The mask reminded me of the Japanese half masks that samurais wore. And i just found out that Tenno means Emperor in Japanese. That's all I had. Also if I'm going with the Japanese theme, the horns could refer to japanese demons.

Edit: The earpieces look like they are part of a wing. And the more i look at the mask the more I can see a bird with it's wings spread out. I googled "rising phoenix" and it kinda fits the bill.
