Some work some don't. I have found that many unique items can be upgraded with the anvil and whetstone. For the most part the upgrading portions of the mod only work with items from the mod not vanilla items....The OP Source Hammer can be upgraded though and that baby carries me through the game. Also don;t forget that essentially everything can be leveled up with this mod at the shrine on the deck of the ship
