I knew Shambles Way had its share of conspiracy theorists.
Anyways, to answer for what appears in the map, mentions of the 2012 Mayan apocalypse are prevalent due to conspiracy theorists conveying their beliefs through graffiti and other methods. The 'apocalypse' seemed to be 37 years off when it came to the New American Empire's invasion and siege of Europe, along with the EU's subsequent surrender to the NAE in 2049; most Europeans described as the apocalypse they had tried so hard to prevent.
The 2049 invasion gave the 2012 apocalypse graffiti newfound relevance, leading most Europeans and other people to believe that the apocalypse had happened with the recent conquest of the 'Second Empire'.
"The Martians are ♥♥♥♥♥♥' our race in the ass, we have to do something!" Imperial soldiers were perceived by some as extraterrestrials, due to their overall appearance given to them by their armor. Soldiers would regularly be called 'Martians' or 'reptilian Illuminati fighters' by children and the homeless upon being sighted. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f0/75/76/f075769523c0eea6bb98c534b03d52a7.jpg
