Hello ,

Great work! Thank you a lot for going a such similarly character of Diablo 2 it's a very good conception for your first try like i read in commentary section,it's a very good smile to Diablo 2 for the nostalgic like me and the paladin were my favorite class.

Bug/balancing /suggestion:

I noticed that the Paladin start with no skill and he don't have quest reward .We can benefit of all aura at same time because they are considered as a passive O_O, you need to find a new "Aura système" I think it's a bit too much overpowered for torchlight LOL It's sad that the aura don't come with visual effect.Do something for better balancing please.Thank you!

I will give the Paladin a starting skill. As for quest rewards I cant promise anything. Some quests give rewards others dont and in any case you can get items from enemies. As for the Auras what I could do is turn them into active skills that have a duration and restrict them to 1 a time but that would take the whole feeling of the class. After all in Diablo 2 the bonuses were a lot bigger than this mod,and I have tried to keep them as low as possible and there were synergies among skills extending their damage bonuses even further. If you think that the original game is too easy for this class, try it out with APOCALYPSE mod which takes difficulty in a new level.

I really enjoy the Smite skill but I haven't seen its knockback work yet, which makes it of less utility than expected as an escape skill. Does it require an existing weapon with knockback to proc?

Happy to confirm my Paladin is now knocking back opponents left and right! Thanks for fixing Smite! (That was some amazing turnaround time for a bugfix!)

Question about auras. The descriptions say they improve on each point added, but it doesn't show any change in the numbers from, say, level 1 to level 2. The obvious changes are at the tier bonuses (and those are quite sufficient for these already powerful auras). So which is it? If they improve at each tier, perhaps you can change the description to reflect that. If they do in fact improve for each point added, perhaps you can add some stats to show exactly what the next point improves. (But mostly I'd just like to know which way it's supposed to work.)

Some auras improve with each point spend to them like HOLY FIRE HOLY SHOCK HOLY FREEZE and RESIST FIRE RESIST COLD RESIST LIGHTNING and others. But to tell you the truth the stat changes are hidden from your eyes like in OUTLANDERS aura,Share the wealth. The reason for this is that the AURA AFFIX APPLIES on YOU and YOUR PET and your FRIEND Type targets meaning it would have shown up 3 times in the Description if it was allowed to show up which I found confusing. The Holy Fire for Example....level 1 adds 19 fire damage to your weapon and does 10 fire damage to mobs for 5 seconds. The Fire damage to weapon and mobs improves with Player level like in some skills of the original classes and also improves at each tier by an amount. So in total it improves with player level and at each tier.I cannot change the description to them because the answer is self explaining the improve with player level and I dont know what your level can be when you spend points on these auras. So They just have a general description that says "Further increases fire damage".However if you are desperate to see what bonuses they apply you can check your Character Sheet and see the fire damage of Holy Fire that applies on your weapon or type COMBATLOG on Console and check the price of the affixes being applies.

Gotcha. Since some numbers depend on external factors it probably doesn't make sense to show them explicitly. But can I generally assume that each point invested in an aura will be proportional to the tier improvements? For example, Thorns starts out at 50% reflect (level 1) and is 70% at tier 1 (level 5)... can I take that to mean each point invested will add 5% (more or less) to my Paladin's physical damage reflection?

It's always nice to know, even in very general terms, what you're getting for your point investment. I simply wasn't sure whether I should wait until I could upgrade to the next tier all at once if the skill wasn't going to improve until then. If it improves with player level but not with skill level then it sounds like that would be the case.

Some Stat Graphs(these are graphs that show how a certain stat improves with each level taken in the skill) are curve others are straight lines meaning that after a point the skills dont worth investing other points in them. For Example if a skill says at tier 2 25% increase and at tier 3 30% increase I dont think it worth the points from tier 2 to tier3.The reason the skill are the way they are is in DIablo 2 it self. The Bonuses were taken from there and were scaled down to match the Torchlight 2 level progression.
Example:
Holy fire Skill
Damage Aura starts at MIN MAX 15 and uses owner level with a duration of 5 at level 1
Damage Aura at tier 1(level 5) MIN MAX 20 uses owner level and has a duration of 5*
Damage Aura at tier 2 (level 10) MIN MAX 25 uses owner level and has a duration of 5*
Damage Aura at tier 3 (level 15) MIN MAX 30 uses owner level and has a duration of 5*
In average it starts low and scales high as you gain levels and tiers at the skill for example at level 6 when you will spend your first point in the skill it will do a damage of 5 per tick for 5 seconds.that is 25 damage fire type for 5 seconds overall and it will refresh on end of event so it will carry on damaging. At level 100 it will do about 350 give or take 50 damage.(300-400 approx.) per tick for 5 seconds.that is about 1500-2000 fire damage. If you add the % to fire damage that synergies give you can boost this a lot more. The damage in comparison to your weapon damage is not much but its applied all the time and its an aoe effect that is why I kept the damage low in comparison to active skills. However you can have many damage auras active at a time so the damage sums up to a good amount.
* MIN MAX VALUE does not represent the damage value in pure numbers, that means that 15 min max is not 15 damage minimum 15 maximum, its just a value needed for the effect to work correctly.

Cool. So just to underline the point: most auras are worth investing 1, 5, 10, or 15 points but in most cases you won't benefit from having, say, 4 points into an aura. That's cool, it's just helpful to know that's how the mechanic works and perhaps the description could reflect that.

Since this class comes with a native respec ability, it's a simple matter to invest the points elsewhere until you're ready to level an aura up to the next tier.
