Balancing the mod.
How should the armour be crafted? In my private build I have it using Leviathan Pearls and steel for each piece of armour and weaponry.

I am assuming you guys will want your entire squad outfitted in power armour?
To me that would kill the game pretty quickly and be reeeeaaaally op, but I want to hear what you guys have to say. If enough people want it that way, I will change it or make another version of the mod.

I suppose you could make a new game start with a full space marine squad for the people that just want to screw around. Otherwise make the armor hard to craft for the people that want to play normally and not be OP right away. Its just a thought tho, its up to you really.

That is what I was thinking exactly. Now I just need some opinions on what it should take to craft. Leviathan Pearls are on of the rarest items in game. (Correct me if I am wrong.) So I think that would be a good option.

Thanks for your feedback @Aldator!

I would make it hard to craft, requiring a lot of the stuff the robotics gear.
You could do it like this, Requires motors, and plate armor to make the base, levianthan pearls + the base to make the full armor.

I don't think they are that rare, you can farm them if you are pretty good. In fact i started downloading crafting mods to farm them cuz bored. I would suggest blood rum, however you can mod the creation of that in.

Ironicly, the best balancing that i have seen with mod weapons and armor is not high quality base materials, but HUGE crafting times. Make the armor take weeks to craft, and people will not spam that in the game world.

As for stats for the space marines, i believe a mix of both howls at the moons demons and the Juggernaught mod by (i forgot the aruthors name) but with decreased hunger.

To be honest, i don't think people will download this mod for balance. They will download for the 40k.

I would love to see a chaos faction, that would craft demon weapons by sacraficing people into a demon pit.....
Well, this guy would not have any trouble harvesting levithian pearls, not at all.

I would say that the weapon damage is on point...

I would say the balance is pretty spot on.

More Bolter Ammo?
Lapis 25 Sep, 2018 @ 5:47pm
You don't need to make the marines OP tbh. Sure, in the lore they are portrayed as god supercombatants, but you could also adapt the stats from the 40k wargame itself, where a marine's combat capabilities are not nearly as overwhelming and a few guardsmen could reasonably take one out.
Is it possible to make the power weapons only at a seperate bench, like a tier 5 weapon forge? Instead of say "power sword", we can then have whatever weapon that we can normally craft, but at a higher level of damage and a 75% armor penertration?

I am not sure how difficult that would be. the last thing i want to do is suggest unreasonable amounts of work.

Hmm, I do not think that is possible if I am understanding what you are asking.

Dang, that is too bad. It was worth a shot though, as we would have had multiple kenshi power weapon options instead of just the swords.
Well, im working on adding space marine gear to a good deal of NPCs (except HN cuz im afraid of what that will do to the game.) and making it so that playing entirely as space marines is totally exceptable. and so far in my test run against UC with the death chances and global damage stats set to a whopping FOUR i've only lost 2 out of 10 ppl while liberating stoat. the two that died were shot down by a lone samurai with a bolter rifle, i dread to think about what could have happened with a squad of samurai could have done as the just "samurai" them selves just have a bolter rifle, wear as the heavy has both rifle and chainsword and the captains have power sword/bolter as well as specialist gear and a more standard ammo complement. so far its been pretty level.

and yes, thats the mod im working on, i expect to release it within a week give or take.
So the codexes are a the moment a blueprint that teaches you everything you need. I find them all over ruins and libaries. So i have several. Now, instead of being a blue print why not a research artifact? You can name them "Standard templant blueprints" and use one each for a new research topic. make each topic 30 hours to research and you got some good restrictions on the items.

IMO the armor should be WAY better considering the crafting materials required.
Food for thought

as i've learned making a mod where a lot of NPCs have the armor and some even have the adeptus astartes race it all actually balances itself out, it doesnt even matter if you set the death chance and global damage set up to four its all actually relatively even. i mean the grade of the armor and weapon matter to a degree but with 2 20 man squads they can take out a whole city with less than 3 deaths total. even when confronted by enemy space marines armed with just a bolter rifle they both have the same kill chance.

additionally, on the normal stats the fight becomes whos got the most guns firing at a target, cuz while its not overly lethal what i found was it takes quite a while for an enemy to kill or be killed by other adeptus astartes.
