A good thing to remember about the mod is that all creatures in the wild now level up speed, its a very small amount to keep creatures in the 100+ from moving around like sonic the hedgehog lol, but just enough to make a difference. A good example of this is a pack of raptors chasing after a parasaur, in vanilla they are pretty much all the same speed, but in VSWR the higher leveled one will be the fastest. This can help spotting high leveled dinos from a distance if you dont have a Spyglass yet.
All flying creatures in the mod can now level their speed up once again, this also applys to gliding creatures like the Rockdrakes.
There are no stats drop on tame for ANY creature, most ppl dont know it but tamed wyverns/rockdrakes lose a chunk of their hp when tamed and this applys to babys to! So this no longer happens in VWSR. The reason for these changes is that with how much stronger everything is, you dont need a useless stat drop on a dino making it harder on you.
Gigas have been completely redone, they no longer deal gnash dmg and their rage mode is now a good thing, when a giga goes rage mode now its dmg becomes 300% and its dmg resist becomes -80%. To balance it out, gigas can no longer extend their rage by getting hit while in rage mode and its much harder to go rage on a high leveled giga.
Most bosses of ark are now tameable, these versions are balanced around the gigas tier in the mod. The mod has 2 creature tiers right now, Normal and Grand.
Normal creatures are things from a raptor to a rex, or beavers to brontos. Creatures that are large and more mobile than normal despite their size are called Grand Creatures, these creatures have natural dmg resist and higher stats than normal creatures, they also wont eat anything but their favorite kibble or Prime Tartare/Veggie Candy.
Some creatures in the mod have been changed to much more usefull than they normaly are in vanilla. A good example of this is a Paracer, in VWSR these are good early/mid game wood collecters and very good tanks! While a paracer only does 145 dmg compared to the rex with 200, the paracer has 3500 hp base while the rex has 3000!.
Its good to experiment around with creatures, some creatures are in a different tier in VSWR than vanilla!
Some creatures have been enlarged to a greater size, this is because either i felt the vanilla size was to small imo or someone else requested it and i was ok with it. Megalodons for example are now the kings of the ocean, they spawn VERY rarely and only deep. They are also MUCH larger.
Large underwater creatures are now immune to the shocks of jellyfish, keep in mind they must be larger than a plesi/dunkle to be immune!
Nearly every creature in VWSR is tameable, from jellyfish to ants! And 90% of them have some use, like how ants can now be given 5 poop, 10-15 wood and thatch and a Seed and will grow crops in their inventory for you!
More creatures are breedable in VWSR! Wyverns, Rockdrakes, Scorpions and even titanos! plan to most if not all breedable!
Lastly for now, there is now a loot box system via drop rates! Most creatures have a chance to give you a treasure box of a certain type, the type you get determins whats in it. There is also changes to some of the islands caves, these changes are ment to make the caves feel more like a dungeon raid.
A Sub Species system is used here, and while this might just look like recolored dinos this isnt some random dino mod that adds 6+ new tiers of dinos with extra parts/color changes.
This system is based on the Monster Hunter series. In MH you can encouter Sub Species of creatures you fought before but with different colors/stronger and allot of times major changes to how they act or where they can be found.
Sub Species can vary depending on the creature, for example, Mapusaurus are smaller sub species of gigas that are on the similer level as a rex, while Titan Topaz Crabs are a larger sub species of karkinos found only in the desert and are extremely resistant to most elements but very weak to ice from wyverns and other ice creatures.
Caves are being changed to be more like a difficult dungeon with better loot. Currently only a few caves on the island have new things, the current changed caves are the Ice Cave with yetis and the 2 sea caves.
Tek caves are being changed to be an extremely challengeing yet rewarding experience, currently only the beta tek cave has been edited and its not quite finished. All creatures in the tek caves will be buffed to take more than a few hits to bring them down and all can drop a special treasure box than has a very high chance of giving a large amount of element!
