Garry's Mod

[TFA][AT] Star Wars E-11
(SIMPLE IDEA/SUGGESTION) My Ideal DC-15A
The DC-15A has always been a weapon I wanted to see portrayed well on the Garry's Mod workshop. Unfortunately, none of the DC-15As I see on the workshop have really fit what I envisioned.

These are the things I would like as part of my Ideal vision of the DC-15A

First things first, I would like all of the weapon's content to be pre-packaged with it so that no hassle will come up.

Ideally, I'd want it to be just the weapon, no additional ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ needed, the MOST I would allow is a BASE, M A Y B E a weapon model, but I would want it all to be in one neat package so I don't have to kill my sanity and workshop space for 10 redundant addons I don't want.

I would like for the weapon to use projectiles and not hitscans so that the weapon is somewhat engaging to shoot in that You have to take some effort in leading the target, plus with a lit projectile, I would like it to light up while flying through dark areas for a bit of atmosphere to gunfights using this weapon.

I would like the weapon to use the SFX from Battlefront 2 Pandemic for the primary firing sound of the blaster and possibly fanmade variants of that blaster sound for other modes of the weapon. It might be nostalgia from Me, but I feel it gives the weapon a distinct sound different from most blasters and adds plenty of character to it, and I am disappointed it wasn't used more for the DC-15A

You can get a clean sample of the sound from this SFX pack under the name "wpn_rep_blaster_fire.wav")

Second, the weapon itself.

I would like for the DC-15A to use both a cooldown system plus and actual reload. Here is how I would imagine it would work.

The DC-15A would have a real clip in the form of the tibanna gas cartridge in the weapon. The Clone Wars 2003 show gives us a visual on a DC-15A reload in the form of the scene of the ARC Troopers preparing to fight Grevious to extract the Jedi.

It's a shame nobody used this as a reference for a DC-15A reload of any kind.

I would like 3 types of reloads for the DC-15A, 2 being toggled dynamically if the wielder is in trouble or not and the third being an optional reload that You'd enable if You'd like to portray more of an action-focused character.

The first reload animation would be a "patient" animation, for when nothing's around and when the wielder is reloading the weapon with peace of mind, but also with a bit of anticipation for the enemy ahead.

the second reload animation would be a "rushed" animation, for when one is in combat and is rushing to reload the weapon before the enemy gets to them first.

the third one is a "badass" animation, for people who want an action-packed badass kind of reload more in common with fast-paced FPS and action movies in which the character reloads it in a stylish way while also being quick with it.

The reason why You ask about these animations, one would ask. Is because the price for being caught reloading by the enemy could cost the wielder of the DC-15A the magazine they were to put into the gun.

If shot by an enemy, there is a chance one can "fumble" the reload of the DC-15A, making the wielder drop the magazine and either have to do the reload all over again, or have to pull out their sidearm to deal with the enemy.

This would make sure one should make their reloads count and make use of the fact the weapon has a generous 500 shots in the magazine.

But firing repeatedly has a risk of overheating, one can set their heat resistance preference to either low or high.

Like in Battlefront EA (both games) Firing this weapon will cause heat buildup with a chance to overheat the weapon.

The heat resistance I mentioned earlier determines how long the weapon will fire for, with either a low amount of heat resistance meaning the weapon will go into cooldown earlier, but You have a chance to flush the heat and fire again, a high heat tolerance means You can fire for longer, but the punishment for overheating is an extra-long cooldown with no chance to flush heat early.

Cooldown can be determined by either a HUD bar below the crosshair, or by looking at the DC-15A's barrel, which will sizzle at first, then may go orange or yellow hot.

the DC-15A itself, as a weapon is geared towards long-range engagements with an emphasis on making Your shots count, so the weapon should have a medium or low rate of fire at least in its base fire mode. In Close-Quarters Combat, one CAN activate a panic-fire mode in which the weapon fires continuously like Battlefront EA, but with less damage and more damage drop over range.

The weapon should have a high-power setting with damage that can hurt a Hunter-Chopper or Gunship that consumes 2 ammo per shot with much more heat buildup.

Now unto the third thing, mods and handling.

The weapon should have options relating to Sprinting.

The first sprint option has the player holster the weapon while sprinting.

The second sprint option has a sprint holster, but like with ARC9. Holding the fire button causes the player to raise the weapon and fire it and holster when the button is released.

The third sprint option is to keep the weapon out while sprinting like in Half-Life 2 (and an option I personally prefer.)

As for modifications, they are not necessary, but if You want, You can add them.

I would like options for under-barrel Grenade Launchers like the ARCs use against Grevious, with options to load 12-gauge ballistic shells into the under-barrel launcher to use as a nasty up-close surprise for any chargers.

I would also like rails to mount attachments and sights onto, from lore-friendly blaster sights to more... Modern attachments like EOTech sights and ACOGs, with motion sensor attachments and maybe even an ammo-counter reminiscent of Halo's MA5-series rifles.

Who said You couldn't get a bit crazy?

That's all for my vision of the Ideal DC-15A blaster. I dunno why I decided to post this here, but anyone who can see this can take it on, not just the creator of this addon

(also I still love this E-11 HUGE props to You Servius and Venator.)
