Because this needs stats
I know people are gonna try and do dumb stuff in the stats section, so I'm gonna try and make the first idea as balanced as possible!

The Lunar Landers
Level X Boots

+) Hold JUMP to float for a short time. Floating consumes the BOOST meter.

This would probably have its own bar like a banner does. You ascend quite slowly, as if you were constantly jumping. Consumes the entire bar in 8 seconds.

+) BOOST meter recharges over time, with damage dealt and with self damage dealt.

Hidden: this also applies to rocket jumping! For every point of damage taken from rocket jumps, you gain 1% of the bar filled (20 damage = 20%, etc) For every 8 damage dealt with weapons, you gain 1% of the bar filled (80 damage = 10%, etc). The bar, passively, is filled in 30 seconds.

+/-) Fall damage is absorbed by BOOST meter.
For every 1 fall damage you would take, the bar is drained by 2%.

or like a reskin for soldiers gunboats would be cool

(+) Creates an area of effect quake on landing that deals damage to nearby enemies.
(+) Deals x4 falling damage to the player you land on.
(+) 50% resistant agains't knockback.

(-) +20% Falling speed.
(-) -15% Self damage force.

But wouldn't extra self-damage force be helpful?
Here are my stats (directly ported from Karma Charger).

+ Wearer can do 3 aerial impulses.
+ -50% fall damage taken.
- Each aerial impulse increases blast damage vulnerability by +11% until landing.

3 jumps seem too op (for me at least) i would prefer just 1
