The "Advanced Optics System"
With help for Steel, I was able to impliment the ability to have 2 aim animations on a sight gun.

Aiming with just right click will use the ACOG on the M15 MMR. However, if you press and hold the sprint key, right click to aim, and then release the sprint key, you will aim down the iron sights.

This system is highly experimental so it is probably going to have bugs and issues. Please give feedback on the system in this discussion. If it works well, I will impliment it in other weapons as well.

THIS SYSTEM IS NO LONGER IN USE

Just tested out for a little, looks good but obviously the view is very restricted by the acog on top, but it works as intended. One thing I noticed you can't get it working while prone, and it's also possible to run when you're looking through the iron sights.

Nonetheless I actually loved it, and would definitely want to see it on other guns, especially those with another sight on top of the scope. Hope the feedback helps.

I think with how the system works, the prone issue is unavoidable. Dont know why it would let you sprint while ADS, so I'll look into that.

Actually that might have been the animation bugging out. I didn't run for long so I can't be sure.

Hard to say. Like I said, the system is very experimental so there could be any number of issues

Although it's a really cool idea, (and it works great for me), I don't think it's very practical in this particular weapon.

This could be a way to use both sights on the Survivor's Battle Rifle without needing to have two versions of it. And since it takes slightly longer to trigger one than the other, that could be reserved for the long range sight, because it's more important to quickly get your close range sight up than the long range sight.

Wow, I was about to ask why did you model the red dot on top of some optical sights. Like it. Hope there will be a way in the future to implement it by a pressing a key but I would like to see it the way it done now. Therefore I hope that majority will ok with it because for me it will be super usefull and cool.

P.S. There is so much room for improvement in this game. Though I understand that some problems with the game engine might not allow to implement some tactical stuff like prone position or bipod deployment, even a few features like your alternative sight might allow to shift the overall gameplay experience from a B level sandbox game (awesome though) to the mil-sim like game.

I put it on the M15 just as a proof of concept. Now that I know the system works, I'm going to improve and expand it

Without some expansion of modding capabilities, this is basically the best it can be right now. I'm looking for ways to implement other systems, like togglable attachments, proper bipods, and secondary fire. So hopefully those work out as well

I really appreciate that. I try to keep things fresh since there are so many talented modders for this game now

i really like the anamations, pls add like a red dot on the side of the seal mod m4, i think it will be cool
RiceFarmingFarm 31 Oct, 2018 @ 7:02am
can u ask steel to add the secondary fire in the next update?
RiceFarmingFarm 31 Oct, 2018 @ 7:05am
and also things like bipod deploys and a fire control system like on real guns. (for instance, burst and semi on the m16 but on only one weapon and X to switch between the fire modes.)

I personally think that might be redundant since it already has an unmagnified optic. As for the other features, they've been suggested to steel before, I dont know what his thoughts on them are

ok thx
