I followed the instructions to add a <steam_id>.json file but it is ignored and a default <weird_named>.json is added to the players folder as well - editing the <weird_name>.json to be admin and then write protecting it is the only way i can get this to work on my server

when i went and check my server log file DayZServer_x64.ADM i found it was my server player descriptor instead of my ID64 that was being used

( i have changed my id above with xxxxx at the end for my security )

So when first starting a server may i suggest that after installing COT the first person to log on the server should be the owner/main admin - then after the server is closed down temporarily that the log file in the profiles/config folder should be opened and the player/admin/owner should appear in the log along with the server player descriptor code you can confirm as the same as the file in the Players folder.

Once the <server_named_id>.json is edited to include the following:

}

Then this file should be write protected for the present so the owner/main admin can safely use COT without the file being falsely reset by the server.

Anyone else wishing to be admin would also be found in the log file ( DayZServer_x64.ADM ) or the main admin/owner can do this for the next person "ingame" rather than in the back end.


I posted this here so that others may have an idea as how to do this for their first time on a newly installed COT server
