Night time
Some people asked for it, and I think it could be a cool idea.

Here's some ideas so far.

So far the idea in my mind is pretty dark, but not too too dark, for example some moonlight.

I'm thinking of making a flare near the player spawn that is on by default and you can walk up to it and turn it off as part of the map so you don't need any extra mods, maybe the firestation too. Should I make them movable? But Then it would mean someone could move it from the spawn and delete it possibily.

Also, I may do one additional update to the current daytime map, I was thinking of adding HDR, and some very quiet ambient sounds such as the wind rushing through trees, yea or nay?

i would agree for night time but have some taxiway lights and runway lights that you can make power on and power off and add a functioning PAPI system?

Thanks that could be a great idea! I could definently work on putting in the taxi lights as a switch in the control tower for people who want to build and fly vs having an arma 2 or DayZ reenactment.

I was pondering about adding the PAPI in the original but the runway takes up the whole mapping grid, so even if it did function, it would be impossible to make an approach to land from a distance outside the airfield. It kills me that I can't make the map longer, I had to cut out a chunk of buildings and 2 hangers from the original plans.

agree with everything but with HDR, either add it to both day and night or just dont add it, and try making the runway lights realistic

yeah i wish garrys didnt have a mapping limit... and maybe do a day/night timer?

the timer is something limited by the engine, there was a mod for a dynamic sun but it needed a custom map and a custom mod at the same time to make it work realisticly, and its not just G-mod, HAMMER has a map limit, unless VALVe relases a new mapper tool we cant do ♥♥♥♥

The next update I'm adding skypaint support for people who like to mess around with the sky color to the current version. I'm still going to be making a dedicated night time map with new night ambient sounds. If it's going to be done, It's going to be done right. Next weekend I'll be able to dedicate a lot of time to the night version.
I think you can use Atmos to make it nighttime

Yes, skypaint was added in the last map update, you can use the gmod skypaint feature and fog to fake night time. School work has me more busy that I thought. I can't estimate when I'll finish the night time version with night time ambient sounds and features.
