So, I was considering perhaps a cart that pops up along with the chair containing a Cardiograph, a few books, and more misc junk (the one seen in the background). For the extra flare, the cardio graph could play some heart rate beeps.

A second option would be a radio, playing music. Preferably something classy and German. And no, not WWII Era Germany. But now that I think about it, that would fit pretty well with the medics stereotype.
