This is the mod causing me tons of lag
Hi Grebog, this is a wonderful mod, among many of yours, however I have finally discovered it is this very mod that is causing me so much eye strain and lag. Sad to say. But only when I use -preventhibernation. But this mod is the main reason I'm using that option, in fact I wouldn't even know about it without the mod telling me lol.

For the last several days I've been trying to figure out why my PC can't deal with -preventhibernation. I have literally done EVERY SINGLE TROUBLESHOOTING that ARK has listed, plus anything else I could find online. I have all the dam launch options in there (which I hate because I shouldn't have to) and it's still so laggy. *Oh and I'm playing SP.. no servers to deal with or network type lag.
[-norhithread -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -sm4 -d3d10 -nomansky -preventhibernation]
I had to use the norhithread because I get occasional crashes too without it... can't figure out why. I've reinstalled drivers and seriously did entire long checklist of troubleshooting on top of my own. No amount of settings changes matters. I've tried the lowest of the low settings. same crap. Nvidia settings either.

If I do "destroywildDinos" then I get a few minutes without any lag.
My PC is more than capable of playing this game. I just bought a new CPU, GPU, & MBO a few weeks ago. Ryzen5 2600X, X470 mbo, RTX 2060 gpu, Vengeance 16gb ram, Corsair RM1000w psu, and 7 PWM case fans, and did a fresh install of Win10.

I only just realized it was this mod because this was the one mod I left in for testing. Since it's the only reason I need -preventhibernation.. haha.
But I can't live without this mod, it's far too helpful since dinos get lost constantly, plus trying to find a dino I need.

Evidently this mod uses a lot of resources. but do you have any ideas that could help me? I'm at a loss here.

@Storm do you have the lags permanently while playing? or only on the search execution, as long as the search lasted?
This mod does not do any buffs or such on creatures. it only follows the position of the current found dino, which does not cause any lags.
If you search for example for all creatures, it will take some time, because a map can contain 30,000 to 100,000 creatures.

But the -preventhibernation is a mess for the single player game, total useless because of the lags. each creature not in range to the player is destroyed (by the hibernation manager) and must be recreated as soon as it comes in range. With all attached buffs etc.

With your hardware you are able to run a server on your machine too.
I always recommend running a server, you can start Ark as a dedicated server and lso as a client on the same machine (first start Ark Server from Steam and then the client Shootergame.exe from the Shootergame\Binaries\Win64 folder). So you do not need the -preventhibernation flag for both.
I ran the same way including the ressource hungry Ark Dev Kit at the same time (i7 6800k, GTX 1080 and 32GB ram).

Or if you own an older pc, you can run the ark server on it in your local network. it is almost better than the -preventhibernation thing.

BTW. what map are you playing?

Update: i have justed tested the Island. Fresh map and after 1800 creatures created my machine runs at 86 fps (with all grafic settings maxed).
After a few minutes the map has 30,000 creatures and the computer runs at 83 fps.
The "lost" of fps is Ark related and comes not from the mod, because the only thing the mod does, is displaying the UI and do the search for a moment.

Thanks so much for the reply!

The lag is constant. I don't even have to pull up mod UI. it gets so bad I get dizzy and can't see straight for a while after if I try to play with it.
I was playing on theIsland, and now on SE. it was really bad on the island, that's why I jumped to SE to test. I've never searched for all creatures. Only nearest or specific. It's just weird that I can play SE (didn't try yet on island) without the mod but -PH enabled, but not with mod loaded.

I'm jealous it runs fine for you and everyone else. Though as you said, it's probably because I'm SP and I need to run a dedicated server. I'm new to ARK still so haven't been able to set that up. I tried a couple times, but the cmd thing just doesn't seem to finish.. I have to figure it out. ty for the instruction.
It def sounds like the way to go though, thanks, hopefully that fixes everything. I'll update later
Cheers man

I finally got a DS running.. but it looks like I have to start over? Can I go back into Local and download my guy and stuff and then download to the DS?

@Storm there is a save game folder for single player called SavedArkLocal and for the server it's called SavedArks. those folder already exist for the other maps like ScorchedEarth_PSavedArksLocal and ScorchedEarth_PSavedArks. You can take the map file (.ark) from the local folder and copy it into the servers folder.

Awesome, thank you

@Storm please make also a check of the Ark files: goto steam, right click on Ark->choose properties->local files->verify integrity of installation.
I think, your Ark installation is broken in some way... (but i think also, you have done the verification)
As i said, this mod does nothing, which would cause a perment lag. And i have not heard from other players about this issue. perhaps a faulty HDD or SSD or a misconfigured system.

Perhaps it is my SSD, or maybe RAM. They are only 3 yrs old, with less than 2 yrs of runtime bc I was out of the country a lot. But still very possible. You're right, unfortunately, it must be me. But I can also live without -PH.
I have reinstalled the game all mods twice. verified a dozen times. many other things. it's a fresh install of Win10 too. eh.
