Loading in ? room with merchant loses the chance to purchase

Play with guardian. At a ? room for merchant fight, the merchant escapes. After taking loot, the Heart emerges. After purchasing something, I think I make some bad moves, so I quit and load.
Loading here brings me back to the collecting loot scene, then the Heart won't emerge. I can only move forward.
