What's the point of Abe's Revenge?

I got it as a boss reward and I can't find any uses for having Drowning constantly on myself. Is it only for runs where damaging yourself is beneficial?

The boss relic that gives you Abes Revenge/Drowning also gives you 1 energy each turn. The drowning is the downside that energy comes with, like how other boss relics that give energy have some downside or other.

Thanks! I have no idea how I didn't notice the extra energy lol. I was probably too busy trying to figure out how to make Drowning a good thing.
