Attacked an enemy caravan, or even just forced it to pay for passage? "OMG, NO, TRADERS ARE INNOCENT, YOU MONSTER!!1!11".
Personally, I just let go most of the companions who do this, or turn them into governors. There are enough hardcore Roman ex-military types that don't whine and moan about going to war. Only occasionally I have someone really good at trading or engineering that I put up with because they are just THAT good. For those unicorns, I just throw a big fat stack of gold coins their way every time they complain. Tends to shut them right up. ;)
