I love the Renaissance period, especially the artists. 😁 If these few can appear in-game, that would be great! 😊

Caravaggio
James van Eyck
Tintoretto
Giotto
Raphael
Giovanni Bellini
Sandro Botticelli

Perhaps throw in a couple of Classical and Medieval artists also? 😂

I would like to suggest as Great Generals:
Wallenstein, living 1583 to 1634, therefor fitting into the Renaissance era,
furthermore
Rommel, possibly with some kind of additional bonus for attacking units, alluding to his style of battle tactics and finally
Gaius Julius Caesar with a Retire function like that of Sun Tzu, creating De bello Gallico or some kind of political bonus.

As for Great musicians, due to the game mechanic in how late they are accessible, a few gentlemen are certainly placed in the incorrect era such as Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Chopin, who belong one cultural historic era earlier and Clara Schumann two and Bach and Vivaldi technically therefor not belonging in the list at all. In this departement all i ask for is a bit of cleaning up.

I second the notion for Raphaelo Santi to complete the TMNT family.

To the list of Great Scientists one could certainly add Archimedes as well as Pythagoras and personal favourite Johannes Kepler.

For a bit of humour i would like to see Joseph Smith as a Prophet.

Thank you.

What about Terry Pratchett as a great writer ?
He would give two books of the discworld saga.
(late atomic era, or information era).

Often Civ games are very lacking in great musicians in the atomic era and beyond, so some new ones might add a bit more variety in that era. Musicians like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, etc. would be great additions.

Is it possible to stall acquisition of a great person if all for a given category are exhausted before the end of era? Would create dry spells until the world moves forward. Thoughts?

I would like to suggest adding some great people which will have their birth anniversary in 2019:

General
  • Giulio Douhet (Modern Age) - he was an Italian general. Also, he proposed the idea of mass stragetic bombing as aerial warfare to lower morale of defenders.
Possible ability: increased strength of air units (for vanilla game), reduce city loyalty after districts air bombing.
  • Allan Pinkerton (Industrial Age) - not an actual general, but worked for the Union's intelligence. Also, established his own National Detective Agency
Possible ability: all spies created in future will receive a free 'Seduction' promotion
Engineer
  • Mikhail Kalashnikov (Atomic Age) - well, his surname says enough...
Possible abilities: reduce maintenance for all infantry units OR increase their combat strength (first one is better since it is more related to his work)
Merchant
  • William Vernon (Renaissance) - he was a merchant and shipbuilder who played a huge role in American Revolution
Possible ability: +N% production towards shipbuilding during wartime)
  • Howqua (Industrial Era) - Hong merchant in the Thirteen Factories. Also, he was one of the richest men in the world
Possible ability: +N gold for naval international trade route
Scientist
  • Alexander von Gumboldt (Industrial Age) - he was known as 'The Aristotle of XIX century'
Possible ability: something related to geography, biology or climate.
  • Sir George Gabriel Stokes (Modern Age) - he contributed a lot into modern hydrodynamics and classical mechanics
Possible ability: +N science to Campus near river AND +2 science towards Water Mill building
Writer
  • Jerome David Salinger (Atomic Age)
Great Works: 'Catcher in the Rye', 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish'.
  • Ivan Krylov (Industrial Age) - most famous Russian fable writer.
Great Works: 'Swan, Crayfish and Pike' , 'Crow and a Fox', 'Dragonfly and Ant'
Artist
  • Charles Le Brun (Renaissance) - he was one of the most famous painters and art theorists of France in 17th century.
Great Works: 'Alexander and Porus', 'Entry of Alexander into Babylon', 'The Descent from the Cross'

P.S If I can somehow help you with this mod, please write me. I am highly interested in it and tbh, collected a file with different important people in history
