If F5 conflicts with some other mod, please use Alt + F5 for the first time.
1.) Server-side option to disable the Dino Bars mod by default (one-time) until it's enabled/re-configured by individual user.
I think this is important to consider pushing through sooner or later which is why it's number #1 on my personal list. The mod is so useful in so many ways however I find myself using it more situationally now instead of having it enabled full time simply to avoid the clutter on-screen as well as noticeable performance increases in areas with lots of dinos. With the problems some are having with very poor frames rates, my concern is the affected not wanting to play on my private server cluster due to the horrible performance on their PC and instead of just disabling the mod to workaround the problem, they blame the server not knowing it's a mod specific issue and never come back. Unfortunately getting people to even read the MOTD is a challenge so this seems like the best solution to this specific issue at the moment.
2.) Server-side option to set other defaults for Dinos Bars mod including pre-populating the dino groups for users one-time until re-configured by the user.
Not as huge of a deal at the moment but I thought I would add to the first item since it's along the same lines.
3.) Server-side option to disable allowing dino bars for the dinos belonging to other tribes (wild and your own tames only).
The older 'floating HP/torpor bars' mod I used prior to this one didn't display the bars for rival tribe dinos, only your own or wild dinos. I think this would be a great option for servers that want to leave some mystery for competing tribes in what they are up against requiring more reconnaissance to determine their HP/torpor/level.
4.) Server-side option to disable dino bars for wild dinos or other tribe's dinos while buried or camouflaged.
Unfortunately as I'm sure you already know that one of the unwanted side affects of enabling dino bars for creatures that can bury or camo themselves is the dino bars still show up when they are supposed to be hidden from view from non-friendlies (i.e. wild or other tribe tames). This really puts a damper on those abilities from a PvP perspective and would be nice to restore an element of surprise lost along the way.
5.) Server-side option to disable dino bars altogether for certain species of dinos/creatures.
This would be great to keep alot of clutter off of player's screens with glowbugs, fish, dragonflys, ants, etc automatically without them having to configure the filters. While not as elegant, this could be an alternative solution to the issues described in item #4.
In the event that you decide to stop modding / discontinue work on this, would there be any possibility of going open-source?
I really like that you were able to figure out how to avoid requiring the 1st mod slot unlike the old health/torpor bar mod made by FrenchGrandpa. The source for that mod, although it had been made available online at one point, was later removed. And since the author did not give any form of permission to re-use source after mod was discontinued I was quite disappointed until your mod came along.
As far as features mentioned in this discussion page, my vote would be a simple INI option to blacklist wild dinos by type (basically #5 from silox's list). For me, the main interest would be to omit the fish, but later on I would probably update to exclude more dinos (especially dodos/bugs and the like that become less important later).
Also, regarding FPS-drop comments other have made in the main comments section, I did not notice any FPS drops in SP. I have not yet tried this on my dedicated server but will try to get around to it and report back. Both SP and dedi are on Linux Mint (SP is using Proton/Windows version bc last I checked the native version of Ark still looked a bit fugly).
But I'm aware that it has much more potential (as the feature requests clearly show) and it would be a shame to just cancel it.
So, it would certainly be a good idea to make it open-source. This way, all the modders out there could pick it up and make their own version of it (or learn from it).
However, I'm also looking for a successor who would be willing to take over this original project and continue the development. If anyone is interested and has a little bit of experience in modding, please let me know :)
Also, the filter system in F5 is confusing and unclear.
Sorry for the late reply. I like the idea. I will probably implement this along with the requested stamina bar and then make it open source. As I mentioned earlier, I've lost interest a little bit because I'm not playing ARK at the moment. This way other people could extend it further and upload their version as a separate mod.
@Soparia:
Try activating the 4th check box in the settings window (I think it's called info bar or something). This should display an additional area below the bars with info about the follow/aggro state and also an icon that is shown when the dino is in the range of the food trough.
