The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Item Recycling
Registered Vex Offender  [developer] 25 Jul, 2013 @ 5:45pm
Projected changes in subsequent updates
Version 1.3 intended changes
Inteded Release Date: 7/28/2013 - Done, I'm posting it now

  • Change number of ingots produced by smelting using suggestions from the Suggestions for the number of ingots produced by smelting discussion.

So far the best suggestion seems to be: ingots produced from smelting = (ingots required to make / 2) rounded down

  • - Add Leather, Hide, Scaled, studded and thalmor items to list of breakdown items. Make them breakdown at the tanning rack. I originally intended on adding stormcloak and hold gaurd armor. Sadly there are so many to add that I will have to include that in the next update.

  • Add items listed in the Items that you find that cannot be smelted but should be smeltable discussion.

    Including:
    • - The companions wolf armor
    • - 5 enbalming tool = 1 ingot

  • Add dwarven clutter items.

    Including:
    • - 2 dwemer cogs = 1 dwarven ingot

  • - 45 Arrows = 1 ingot

Version 1.4 intended changes
Inteded Release Date: 8/05/2013
  • Make race and smithing skill effect number of ingots produced
    AND/OR
  • Perks effect number of ingots produced

  • Difficulty setting that allows you to adjust the number of ingots produced by smelting

I'd suggest make it more like 40-50 arrows to 1 Ingot. Daggers are 1:2 (recycled:crated) ratio, but arrows will only be 1:1.25 at 30 recycled.
At 44 arrows they'd be equal, but remembering that arrows require Firewood, which is basically free, it'd still be easier to craft and recycle them than daggers.

err.... the idea of smithing skill and race affecting ingots made seems a bit wierd to me, but i have noticed people asking for it, however rather than using race and skill level could you use perks instead, so a steel smith would get more steel ingots from smelthing steel items.

i guess i want this so that a breton with 100 smithing and all perks is not seen as inferior as an orc with 100 smithing and all perks, afterall anyone who get's to that level is a very dedicated smith, and race really only influences how you start out, not where you end up.

I like you're idea more then the race idea, i think i'll do that.

I'm not sure what that was but if it was a compliment then thank you.

This panda votes again for perks effecting number of ingots. Also, please respond about falmer ingots and hard coding issues. I think that people may want to try to say something about falmer equipment. It is armor and weapons. Chitin perhaps?

Is there any way that we could get some sort of enchanted item update? if we could use the enchanter to turn items into soul gems? Even empty soul gems would help with the clutter.

I am not sure if its possisable, but maybe just melting down basic, or common enchanted items would be a huge help, and maybe the value or level making what kind of soul gem you get from the breakdown. or even if it was based on the disenchant option, so that a basic thing like "fire damage" gave you something like a common soul gem, but something harder to get like a "drain life" enchantment would give you a higher level.

I would go with perks for the number of ingots perhaps similar also to how improving equipment is done so that skill and perks are needed.
