[RESOLVED] Traffic Lights Bugged? desynchronization of lights and broken intersections.
Hello, I am having a rather strange issue that I noticed while trying to fix my traffic in my city. Usually I have about 70% flow rate but I noticed it dropped down to sometimes 50% and I have found several, if not all of my intersections modified with TM:PE have become desynchronized between what the mod is saying the light is doing and the actual light. I have also noticed that despite having timed traffic lights setup, vehicles tend to treat the intersection as a 4 way stop and all flow has been destroyed. I also found some lights that completely stopped working and stayed red all directions.

Example: TM:PE says the light should be green, but the light visually is red and cars are stopping at the line before proceeding. Several cars from other directions also decide to go randomly when they have a red light. The mod used to work perfect, not really sure what happened. I have not added any traffic altering mods other than TM:PE. Should I reinstall the mod or reset something? I don't want to lose my settings as I have nearly every intersection fine tuned for optimization.

1. Traffic light props are completely ignored by vehicles. Simulation state matters - what TMPE says about the light state. Traffic light prop (its shader responsible for rendering light signal) is very limited and in >50% cases won't show correct state, especially if you created custom Timed traffic light setup.
2. If segments of intersection are very short and vehicles are "not allowed to enter blocked junction" (vanilla behavior, can be enabled with TMPE junction restriction tool) vehicles will always stop since there is not enough space at next segment to go through the intersection.
3. Check if you didn't enable "vehicles follow priority rules at junction with traffic lights" - it will also block vehicles from going through intersection if they don't have priority (right hand rule)
4. Make sure that Timed traffic light setup is complete (has all steps it should) and it is not paused
5. If you enabled Turn-on-red feature at intersection with traffic lights, vehicles doing right turn still have to stop when signal is red, even if there are no other vehicles on their way.

Thanks for the reply, I found a reddit thread that basically says the same thing, probably from you or a developer. I have been messing around with it and after a few reloads things seem to be back to normal. As far as the traffic light sync thing, I guess I have been extremely lucky with the lights I use because they seem to show the correct state like 80% of the time, didn't know it was a sure thing. Thanks for the reply and creating this must have mod, happy new year.
