Plan B
Plan B - Review by Endless
★★★ 3/5: Good, fast-paced fun with some issues

A short campaign with only 3 maps, but each one manages to offer something different to the narrative, expanding on certain concepts and adding new ones. Plan B is, in essence, a traditional campaign, effective in its execution, though still in need of polishing.

First the good: this campaign is fast-paced and quite creative. Despite its short length, the pacing is well balanced and the levels are different enough to give a few minutes of entertainment under a certain challenge that, although somewhat complicated on high difficulty, is more than acceptable, and the best part: passable with bots!

The gameplay is quite solid and smooth looking. At some point there are random hordes that don't make much sense, but at no time does it become a real detraction from the fun and, thanks to the variety of weapons and ammo, it's enjoyable.

The new concepts are well done. While they feel a bit crude due to their novice implementation, they put a nice twist on the gameplay mechanics and offer some welcome variety.

On the other hand several areas throughout the campaign could have used a little more work, particularly the first map. This is somewhat open and has different paths, which makes it easy to get lost and there are scenes where you can get stuck with no chance of getting out. A path that follows the road through the mist, at first, looks like the right one, however, there is a teleport tag that makes the journey take forever. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize this, and I'm sure I probably wasn't the only one. I don't understand the need for this mechanic other than trying to be different? It could have been blocked with a couple of crashed cars, rocks, or dead bodies. Simple.

It's an entertaining campaign, and although there are certain moments that are a bit annoying (the generators in the last maps, and the high brightness in the last crescendo as well as hordes coming right from the most random spawn points) it's a solid campaign all around. Fun!
