Want to start with one disclaimer - since this mod has been translated in various languages, it is quite hard to redesign any cards. But just changing some number can be easily done.
1. I've got many comments about monotonous deck building. I agree, but I want to say that Curse-Ritual focused build has various forms. Think about Defect, main archetypes of Defect relies on Orb and Focus. But the Orb-focused decks are so much variable, as there are 4 types of Orbs and also they can be mixed together. I think Curse build is like Defect - there are so many Curse-Ritual related cards, and it would be much powerful if you focus on some of aspects among Strength / Plated Armor / Dexterity (Stretching & Evocation) / rapid deck cycling / infinity mana with Mana Circulation / etc., rather than just collecting every random Curse-Ritual cards.
And I want to say of course there are other archetypes, I recommend you to try 10 different archetypes I've made (it's available in Mods > Config menu), and 6 archetypes are not the Curse focused build. One of them is "infinite strike" deck, which uses Circle of Windfury and multiple Fury Strike cards (making all strike cards 0-cost, and Circle of Windfury can be activated by them).
Personally I always try to build a Circle main deck in high ascension (Circle of Windfury + Circle of Abyss + 0-cost cards, possibly with Runic Pyramid boss relic or Empower Circles), because I think it's much more stable than Curse build. And I heard some opinions that it's very hard to use Bleed cards, so recently I buffed some of them, not sure it is enough to use.
Anyway, if some of archetype is infeasible for climbing, I want to hear more so that I can make a proper patch. I think Curse-focused archetype is more powerful than others in overall, and it's intended because its name is "The Cursed" :)
2. It's "Cursed Spellbook". I think that Normality and Regret would be a big penalty to use this card. I know its reward is much more than its risk. But making it as rare card would make this character too weak maybe :)
I want to balance this character with similar to other base characters, by how easily can he beat the Corrupt Heart in Ascension 20. For now I'd like to keep this card draws 3(4) cards, because it's still hard for me to consistently beat the Asc20 with The Cursed, as like other base characters.
3. Hmm, I've never experienced that bug, let me try with different situation to reproduce the bug.
Thanks for your opinion, and no worries - I respect everyone's opinion. They can be different with my thought, but I'll definitely consider them. Thanks for enjoying my mod so far :)
1. I can definitely see that perspective, many sub archetypes.
And really? I'll have to check out the 10 different archetypes. Silly of me to not notice that before.
I'll do some in depth testing of Bleed cards or Bleed builds and report back personal findings to see where we're at, in addition to checking the archetypes for climbing. I'll provide details regarding deck build, upgrade choices, etc. I would greatly appreciate your personal thoughts as well as anyone else's thoughts on my findings.
2. Yes! Cursed Spellbook! Now I'd debate that Normality and Regret are typically non-issues, as Cursed Spellbook costs 0 to play. Obviously I would play my 0 cost draw 3-4 before spending all my energy (barring I have no hand space, or I'm just looking to cycle my deck/dig for other 0 cost attacks/skills). If my draw pile is low or near empty I should expect to draw the curse given to me from use of this card, and prepare to either deal with it, or suffer the consequences. Arguably if I'm using this card I should be prepared to use Ritual cards to counter the curse effects.
Example: I have 3 cards left in draw pile, I use Cursed Spellbook+ immediately at the start of my turn to draw 4, this means I'm guaranteed to draw the curse. I should prepare for the worst case scenario of either regret or normality (i'd argue pain is pretty annoying to get as well), and use Ritual cards to rid myself of either of them immediately, thus a non-issue (or perhaps a boon in many cases).
This is ofcourse personal experience mixed with Theorycrafting, and Theorycrafting is about as good as it sounds, so it's definitely not law or word of God as there are many situations I've yet to be in to honestly say it's pretty fool-proof, and it was recently made apparent to me I haven't touched everything just yet.
I'll have to try out Ascension 20 when I get time for it with the Cursed.
3. Yeah honestly it could very well just have been something on my end. I'll have to test more to see if I can recreate it as I honestly cannot remember exactly what I did to make that happen.
Thanks for the reply and your insight!
