Creature Feedback
Hi there!

First - I love this mod and the creatures that it adds. I think the abilities from a lot of them are incredibly creative and I love the write ups. I can't wait to see how this mod is when it's been updated a bit. We're definitely looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

We are thinking about adding this to our cluster, so I spent some time looking at each creature added and various aspects to see if they would be balanced for our RP server. I wanted to share some of the findings with you since this is a new mod. Hopefully this will help :)

I did not test breeding them or taming them legitimately. I spawned each in with admin commands and recorded their stats and damage output and intake, as well as any extra utility abilities that were listed in the creature write-up.

Also, this was tested on a dedicated server on The Center. The only other mods installed were S+, scuba swim clear mask, and super spyglass.

Walrus
  • The speed difference between the water and land feels a bit off. They are incredibly fast in water (I'd expect them to be more Angler Fish speed, tbh). They are painfully slow on land. While they are slow IRL, I don't think they should be this slow!
  • Whenever you dismount them in the water, they spring up to the surface. Not a slow swim up, but like shooting up to the surface.

Great Hammerhead Shark
  • The gmsummon command does not work with them (used the spawn code you provided). I had to spawn in a wild one and dotame it.
  • The swimming animation (when they are riderless) feels very choppy as if you're watching stop animation.
  • If you hold down X (at least for me it was X), it turns on 'EMF Detection' (much like the snow owl ability). I'm not sure if this was intended as I didn't see it in your creature write-up and I cannot turn it off. Even dismounting and remounting keeps it enabled.

Eastmanosteus
  • There is a mesh gap behind the gills. You can see through the fish both from the sides and when looking down it's mouth/throat.

Orca
  • Swim animation is also very choppy just like the Hammerhead shark. Very choppy when riderless, a little choppy when being ridden.

Anomalocaris
  • Swim sprint does not use stamina.

Arowana/Pike/Perch (tested all 3)
  • Swim animation is very choppy.
  • "Cheat Kill" command does not work on them (when tamed. Did not test command on wild ones). I tried a bunch of different angles and distances from them but it never worked.

Giant Vampire Squid
  • Literally the cutest sea creature I've ever seen.

Titan Sailfish
  • Swim animation is very choppy when riderless.

Choppyness is literally just ark not liking a non-ark model lol, and only happens on server.

Anomalocaris's unlimited sprint stam is one of its gimmicks.

X is supposed to toggle that, because hammerheads have really good senses irl. Never did it in the writeup, forgot about it. you can un-toggle it via Left Control.

Didn't care much about eastman's skull gap, as fish irl often have similar, lol.

Will try and see what i can do about walrus though. Thanks for the thorough testing.

Hey Shadlos :D I put the mod on my Ragnarok server ^_^ Just wanted to give the feedback from my experiences so far :D I LOVE the mod!!

Is it possible to make all creatures both knock out and passive tames? I tried taming several orcas one lvl 55 adolescent male took over an hour just to let me feed him a 2nd feed, it's like once his actual food got full he wouldn't continue to let me tame him unless he starved more it's been 2 hours trying to tame this lvl 55 -.-. I waited a good 30 minutes as well on a Eastmanosteus as well still can't feed it a 2nd time yet :O. I think you need to make their food consumption much faster so they starve faster to tame faster? My servers are on x7 and usually a tame isn't longer than 10 minutes. And even on x7 having to wait almost 2 hours for a lvl 55 is going to drive a lot of people away from the mod and I'm not saying it to disrespect the mod at all! I'm just saying what I think would help the mod out a lot is if the passive feeding after first feed was a LOT shorter like 5-10 minutes tops or make them all knock out and passive tames like the octopus. I KOed an octopus and it tamed fine.

Props on the Eastmanosteus that is the most detailed amazing animations so far! LOVE IT <3

Some minor things I noticed:
On the dinos when riding you can't use a spyglass this would be a great feature

On my server we have mobile obelisks to upload dinos we tame, I think a lot of modded servers do. When I try to upload them they aren't displaying in the list to be uploaded. Not sure if this is something you could fix.

The Orca so far is one creature I noticed when it's following you it doesn't say "following character" there's no text displayed I accidentally left base once and didn't realize they were still following :P

Only thing I've bred so far is the vampiric squid which after giving birth had no cooldown on the female to breed again. I also didn't see a mating bar when they were breeding she just started a gestation timer.

Also we currently have a valentine's day event and I've been ALL over the ocean and found LOTS of your creatures and none of them are spawning in the event colors. It's like they have "fixed" color regions and can't change. Is it possible to give them color regions so they can spawn in event colors and get color mutations from breeding? This is a huge part of the game that I think just about everyone looks forward to and tries to do, would make the mod a LOT more appealing :D

Just my thoughts on what I've found so far it's great work! These comments aren't a big deal but I think they would improve the mod a lot :D Looking forward to see what you do with this mod <3

i know it should be fast but...Sailfish is ridiculously fast...i am very close to remove them from game bcz it feels almost like cheating

looks like there is spawn issues with orcas just like with allosaurs when they stuck to each other on spawn

Also, the giant octopus cannot be harvested

The pike, perch, and arowhana should be able to be carried in fish baskets, so you don't have to cryo them to transport them overland.
Psychoplex 22 Dec, 2019 @ 8:15pm
Giant Octopus cannot be harvested and the corpse never expires...

Why does the Orca open and close its mouth like it's a fish and not an air breathing mammal?
Wish and hoping for the day when aquatic creatures are able to breach the surface and leap into the air, like they can in real life.
