How to use them?

there is a special place in Hell reserved for people who ask a question and then say "nevermind i found out" or something to that effect without telling anyone what the solution is
(you wouldn't believe how many people on stackoverflow are going to be given the harshest torture when they die)

u scroll in ur clip editor then right click on effects its a red bar at the bottem.
then u click add clip to track. after that right click and select material overlay effect after that right click on the small clip in the effect bar you just added and select "show in element viewer" there u open effects and go to children and select new clip there will be a small bar that says material and three dots. click the three dots then u can select a material to use for the overlay. u can exend the period of the overlay by dragging the effect clip out. Hope this helps someone!
