Got any cool ideas? Share it here and there's a good chance he'll get in.

I've already planned Reactive Drop drones, so that's off the list.
Things you can suggest are behaviours, types, abilities or tactics.

Don't forget to give him a name too (if it's a new drone class). Some name ideas;

-Piledriver

do you think you could make it so drones could hide things inside of corpses, like mines, or maybe a small version of the swarm?

maybe make a special entitie of some kind that spreads swarm eggs around the map, and then an infestation can start... kinda like the zombie invasion mod, if you know what that is.

Sounds actually really cool. I never thought of infestation behaviour so that would be something nice to try. If your computer can handle it, you should try spawning a large number of drones against npcs. They behave like a hive and work like ants. Also, hiding and dragging corpses would be cool.

taking into consideration the spores idea, maybe you could have a drone that is specifacly made for that role, like a engineer type thing, and maybe you could make it possible for the special drone to control dead bodys and use them as a form of weak melee unit? since they had already died, they would obviously be very weak, and they would function as a distraction so the more dangerous drones could close in and do more damage. Maybe they could have a small spore cloud realese around these corpses, slowing and maybe doing a effect of some sort to do with the spores. The engineer idea may also be a tunnel builder, giving easy access to sections of the map for easy sneak attacks. This unit would obviously serve a very important role, and as such would stay behind lines as much as possible and have other drones to protect it, perhaps using the reanimated dead as a shield of sorts.

you could split the spore focused drone and the tunneler into seperate npcs aswell, but thats up to you

oh, and I think that the drone army should be able to slowly grow on a map, and not all spawned at once. Maybe you could make a drone, like a scout of some sorts, that is very stealthy and strong, but only one can appear. If there were enemys, it would try to pick them off and drag there corpses away, while not being noticed. Eventually, it would slowly build up a army. How this could happen depends, maybe make it able to split into two different paths, with one path calling in reinforcements from orbit, in the form of pods that would come down, and spawn some drones. Another possible option is for it to use the corpses that it has collected to become a sort of incubation area for drones, allowing them to grow on there own. The former path would be more fast, but also much more noticable, while the latter would be much more slow, and much more stealthy. Of course, coding the drones to wait until there numbers are good enough, and then attacking, and the stealth, may be a little much to ask of you, but if you could pull that off, this mod would definatly be something even greater.

looking at your profile, I notice this is your first full fledged addon, and considering what you have accompalished with your first one, and with what you can do, if you get all of this implemented, I have great hopes for your future in addon making. Maybe you could specialize in very complicated tactical AI, and get a name for yourself. I do think you can do it though.

also, if you plan on doing the whole reanimating corpses thing, perhaps you can ask the guy that made bio anhilation, or maybe addons that use it, like gmod of the dead, for ideas. That is if you need there help.

oh and also, for the drone that reanimates corpses, maybe the drone could use the reanimated as a sort of healing thing, eating it and healing themself and comrades, instead of just the drones healing eachother through normal means. maybe that could be another purpose of dragging corpses, as a source of healing.

maybe they could instead of using hives as a spawn point, could function as the orks do in 40k, and grow as a fungus. They would grow from corpses as a sort of larvae form, and then other drones could feed it and it could grow, and maybe thats how evolving would work. when drones eat corpses, they slowly grow the ability to evolve, and do so at a certain point. Drones that kill more eat more, evolving, and slowly building a sort of heiarchy in the seperate groups. The leader gets the better half of the corpses, and everyone else gets the scraps.
