There might be a bug with the "reload hats" function since the 1.5 update and the Nov 15 patch that came shortly after:

Since the update you can also use simple .png files (in addition to .hat), and you can also (since Nov 15) put them in My Documents\Duck Game\Hats

The issue I have is that my .png hats and hats in My Documents do not show up anymore when I press "Reload Hats" (they are initially there in the selection screen, only after I press reload they disappear).

Only .hat files, and only in the program folder show up

Looks like the "Reload hats" feature is still not fixed yet till now
