It is marked in yellow in any sequence, does not work

If it is in yellow, then you are missing the dependencys. Install Tattoos by Nanogiraffe and Tattoos Addon and it should work.

I have tweaked some settings and removed the nexus optional mod, which I think was causing problems for people. Let me know if this fixes your issue

The mod works, but it is still marked yellow, all the necessary modes are installed in the correct sequence.

If you hover over the mod in the launcher it will list the dependencies and tell you if something is missing. When you do that what does the mod list as missing?

It is working fine for me now. I no longer get the missing the dependency message.
Are some tattoos supposed to require 8 to 10 units of alcohol and 5 or so carbon?

It should be 5 units of alcohol and 5 units of carbon. So basically a 5:1 ratio for input to output. Carbon furnaces have a daily output around 10, but just constantly run.
