Looks like this fix works for some people (like me) but not for others. If anyone else has input, it would be appreciated. If it helps, I have all the DLC for Civ, and I run it in DirectX 11 mode.
Another thing to note is it seemed people would get two bugs in relation to this mod: one where the game would freeze upon loading a game or scenario, and another where the civs and maps would not appear properly, or even at all. The one I experienced before this was the latter. Also, I believe that I had bought the Korea DLC after the last time I tried this mod, and before This fix came up.
Thanks to anyone that can help! :)

Wow! it works! I have been following this mod since before BNW, and was so bummed when it wasn't working for BNW. I thought I tried everything.
This solution is so simple... How has no one tried this before?!
Why did the creator never tell us this?!?!
Thank you so much random stranger. I have checked back on this page from time to time, hoping that someone would find a way to fix this mod, and I never thought it would happen... you are amazing my dear sir. You, and your utterly simple solution that no one else has ever apparently thought of..
Also, in the additional maps category, there are 2 "Westeros" maps listed there, with the same description (apart from one ending the description sentence with a period, and the other without).
Hm.. Well I have all the DLCs, and I have tried loading the scenario from both maps so I'm stumped :|
You can work out the version of the map you want from the tooltips. For 'The Known World' map the one WITHOUT the 'Mof' typo worked and for the 'Westeros' map the one WITH a fullstop at the end worked. For me the maps were the first out of the two in the list. I haven't played past turn 10 so there may still be major issues. Also didn't test with any other mods enabled.
Make sure you delete the corrupt save (a large 'CIV5SAVE' file located at 'C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ModdedSaves\single\auto') after a start of game crash.
Also, when selecting 'The Vale' (Petyr) as my civ the crash occurred again for a couple of attempts but after testing different civs 'The Vale' seems to be working. Not sure of the cause.
EDIT: I've created a little 'Unoffical Patch' which seems to prevent the crash at the start of a game when just the BNW version is enabled (as well as the patch). I'll upload it to the workshop soon.
EDIT 2 : Looking into the bug that prevents production being chosen, it appears to happen when either 'Mathematics' or 'Guilds' is researched. Also loading a savegame results in a crash, I'll try to look into that too.
EDIT 3 : Production bug fixed.
Have you successfully loaded a save of any of the following civs? :
Balon - The Iron Islands
Daenerys - House Targaryen
Olenna - The Reach
Petyr - The Vale
Renly - The Stormlands
Stannis - The Crownlands
Tywin - The Westerlands
I can't load saves for any of these.
EDIT : Found the cause, attempting to fix. Fixed.
Do you have a direct download link to this patch perhaps? :) I know that an updated version is available, but I need this kind of patch if it is possible.
Out of interest, why do you need the patch rather than the updated version? The updated version should be easier to install and use.
