Left Turn: Silent Hill 3 Tribute
Kyle's Review of "SH3: Left Turn" - 3/5
Fun and creative, but confusing for non-fans. 3/5 stars.

Left Turn is a love letter to Silent Hill 3, and you can feel that love in its level design. This is a long campaign full of puzzles and exploration-based progression, and though I've only played the first Silent Hill, I think Left Turn mixes together the gameplay styles of the two franchises very successfully. Combined with its moody environments and excellent music, it's a unique experience.

However, it has issues -- some all its own, some inherited from SH3. It's easy to get lost in the mazes of hallways since you don't have a map like you do in SH3. The author did a good job providing hints, but puzzle progression is still confusing sometimes. I also couldn't beat this campaign legitimately because of a worm boss that seemingly has WAY too much health.

Of the Silent Hill campaigns I've played over the years, Left Turn is the best one -- but you might find it hard to fully appreciate if you're not a fan of the game it's based on.

UPDATE: I replayed this campaign in 2024 and beat it legitimately without skipping any chapters because it turns out the boss fight is actually optional. I still feel comfortable with my 3/5 score, but I definitely enjoyed my second playthrough more than my first.
