Getting the planet to work
So I can spawn the planet in but its key feature, the canyons seem non existent. Does anyone have a guide on making this planet work?

Wait some time, like 2 minutes, inside the game, like take a flight with a ship or whatever. It may be enough time for PlanetDataFiles to be generated. After that you spawn the planet in the world. PlanetDataFiles contains textures, were the darker the deeper the cracks are. Without them the planet is a perfect ball.
You may want to save the game and load it again too before spawning. I got the same issue and at least for me it was solved that way.
Alt F10 Enable creative tolls. Shift F10 change from itens to planets.
