my review of this mod with other compatible mods and ideas
been playing for a few days (in seperate campaigns as seperate cultures) now in campaign i think the mod is great like the of idea population and the seasons actually making a difference to the overall campaign

ideas for improvement
make factions have strengths and weaknesses in army rosters in a way which could make weak factions such as jorvik, mercia and nothumbria and others stronger in general which in turn could slow the campaign down this could be done by pitting the strengths against there main rivals early on in the campaign
mercia could have a stronger sword axe and archer focus which would allow them to be more balanced against gwined and wessex

campaign ai needs to be slowed down i would suggest scripting campaigns to be more historical as for example jorvik shouldnt be taken out until 937 ad when king athelstan of wessex took over all of england and became the first king of england

maybe finding ways to slow battles down abit aswell



jorvik i would say needs a stronger roster in general in terms of infantry as usually they get stomped every campaign

northumbria could have strong cavalry ,spearmen and swordsmen

this could make conflicts longer allowing for slower campaign ai

for new mechanics/features


wessex
gets a navy as alfred built a navy to prevent viking raids by sea

mercia
king offas legacy this could give a morale bonus

dyflin
ivar the bonelesses fury-could give a morale bonus and attack and defence buff for units attacking settlements by sea (port assaults)

raiding season-gives missions at the begining of spring to go and sack settlements maybe abit like a crusades type of mechanic


for jorvik-could give a bonus to defending own territory maybe
the great viking stronghold-gets a bonus to mercenary population and recruitment when yorvik is held
great heathen army-allows 1 army to have up to 30 units for all viking factions could work like a crusades type of mechanic and has a cooldown and a duration it can be active for maybe something similar for the saxons maybe




potential new idea for limiting armies while making it work with population and and recruitment mechanics and other ideas
maybe having it like rome 2 in terms of how it limits the amount of armies you can have depending on the amount of territory you have and population
you could also allow garrisons for minor settlements to be a thing but very small ones maybe with a special building for that
adding more slots to main settlements but only for specific buildings
possibly adding more settlements to campaign map and allowing rivers to be sailed down

heroes
they could be put in a general type of unit but that specific soldier could be made abit more powerful than the rest of the unit while that unit recieves a tiny bit more melee attack and moral than a general unit would have maybe

for more unit variety between factions of same culture and in general and even within the same faction

circcen
pictish warriors-could have vanguard deployment

dal riata warriors- naval units possibly as they were skilled sailors that fled here after vikings settled there land in western scotland and merged with the picts that lived there

dyflin
irish warriors-these could be a choice as the irish mixed in with the vikings that lived there

sudreyer-scottish celtic warriors and possibly dal riata warriors as they mixed in with the vikings in scotland

new units and mercenary units for all viking factions

danish warriors this could establish the difference between the danes and norse vikings

jomsviking spearmen

jomsviking huscarls

jomsviking axemen

berserker huscarls

beserker swordsmen

beserker axemen

norman viking mercenaries

swedish mercenary units as they sometimes became mercenaries for danish/norse warlords or kings same vice versa

frisian viking mercenaries

frisian mercenaries

norman viking mercenaries

frankish infantry mercenaries

greenland and icelandic viking mercenaries which could be unlocked after the date these lands have been settled should be quite rare but not too rare

vinland viking mercenaries-should be unlocked late game only after these lands have been discovered and should be very rare

for great heathen army
maybe adding some saxon units as they did live alongside eachother and probably fought together in the same army to a extent

and maybe frisian vikings as they were part of the great heathen army and probably settled
danish and norse units

overall really enjoyed (especially playing as my homeland of northumbria both the viking and saxon factions) the mod really excited to see what you have for future updates
