Hello There has Garry's Mod

Does the server have to have this addon installed for the effects to work for you?

Everytime when im in singleplayer, it works well and i love the effects but when im in a server, it doesnt work except for the fire effect. Is this because the server needs it to work for you? I thought it was clientside. how do i get it to work on servers, help.
