The Jupiters Purpouse
Since it's probably a secondary and the engy's current secondaries deal with ranged enemies, I think it should deal with ranged enemies as well. My idea;

Nutreal Stats
Fires a projectile. Stats compared to the pistol.

Negative Stats
- 25% Damage
Fires twice as slow

Posotive Stats
+1Damage for every 100 hammer units the projectile travels before hitting its target (a sentry's range is 1100 hammer units). Caps at 25 bonus damage.

so basically, the 25 bonus compensates the -25

These Stats would instantly make it a worse weapon than the pistol. 25% less damage and a Half-as-fast firing speed? Even with the capped +25 bonus damaged, you're still getting nothing but a negative atrribute in the end. This is why Valve makes Stats

Maybe get rid of the firing speed, and change the damage stats so that at point blank range, it does the same damage the pistol does at max range, and at max range, it either does more damage than the pistol point blank, or does the same damage, but it more accurate.

The pistol only has 15 damage to begin with, so minius 25% damage would mean your'e only losing out on about 3 base damage. The potential to get up to 25 extra damage would be extremely powerful. Consider it like this;

Pistol; Spammable, 15 damage.
Jupiter; Have to aim your shots, 12-37 damage.

Try adding a stat that instant kills spys that have placed a sapper on your buildings and it could balance out rather quickly.

Well... Maybe it could have a slow down effect, After all Jupiter is a planet of some messed up gravity, So it'd make sense to slow players down? The gun also looks a bit like a tazer so that enforces my view on slowing people down even more ^-^

I agree with you, but you could probably reduce the range unit to let's say 50 or 30 hammer units. When you're comparing the damage to the standard pistol, the latter would be landing two (spammable, but harder to land) shots scoring a total of 30 damage, while the Jupiter would get 37 with only one shot. I just think the distance you've used as a reference is perhaps too long (it would have to shoot across 2500 hammer units, which is almost as big as Egypt's last capture point area). Nevertheless, good idea and don't listen to the haters.

thanks man. and yeah ill admit i didnt get the numbers perfect. all i was trying to say was it would be cool to have a righteous-bision like weapon that does more damage with range.

Now that I actually looked closer, I noticed the 25% Total Damage to +25 Points Cap difference you proposed is actually pretty big. Sorry I didn't notice that before.

But still, why even argue? Valve, if they ever get around to releasing Workshop weapons, would still create the stats. A great, healthy discussion, but with no proper reasoning to back it up.
