Actual Design Critique Discussion Thread
Love the skin and would be elated to see it accepted. However, there are some things that might need changed in order for this to be accepted, or fit better. While none of these are required, these are just my personal critiques. Due to hardware limitations, I can't look at the 3D View, so some of this criticism may be invalid.

  • The matte bits of the skin may need a bit more 'noise'. By this, I mean, they look like a rather flat, and simply coloured material, judging by the images(might be misleading, not sure). Adding a bit more noise to the texture, perhaps in the way of normal maps, will give it a less abruptly flat appearance, so different colour channels may work better. obsolete
  • The geometry on the "hair" bit seems a bit.. blocky, and cragged, and could use some smoothing. As opposed to making it a singular piece of geometry(like it appears to be), it could use some layering, akin to how Revenant's bits are handled; more like 'hair', then.
  • I really enjoy all the energy channels that are included, especially on the underside of the hands. However, I feel- again- that they are too flat, and may look like more of a fullbright texture than anything when actually ingame. It could use a bit of 'noise', with more contrasting 'flow' tossed into the mix. A good example of what you could do in this regard, is to look at the various Nikana sheath skins, with how they have darker undertones that cause it to flow "like a river".

Probably more to come! I don't believe in abandoning projects, and all this skin needs is a bit of work and it'd be an amazing addition to the tennogen selection.

Got some more, actually managed to figure out the 3D view.
  • The translucency layers on the cloth bits on either side of her legs may need to be removed, modified, or just turned into emissives. The fact that you can 'look' into the mesh is a design issue, and can't be fixed without altering the mesh(which is frowned upon for body meshes in tennogen).
  • The head needs additional complexity. If you remove the hair, the head is a bit.. abrupt; it's like a swooping flat layer with an abruptly protruding horn. I feel that this would need some smoothing, and some additional detailing in order to be considered for acceptance.
  • Hand emissive layers might need some "stops" in them. While I like the idea of just having the entire hand(and bits of the wrist) be nothing but flat energy, it may need some texturing added to make it look less like this. Some examples would be, actual texturing in the palm of the hands, or on the underside of the fingers(like where a fingerprint would be), as to break it up and make the hands a bit less "busy".
