Mount & Blade: Warband

Legacy of the Dragon
Necromancy
So I have seen a few comments here and on moddb that seem to think the grimoire spawns are weak or that they need buffing but I have to disagree. Skeletons seem to preform underwhelmingly but Undead are pretty strong.

I'm most the way through conquering the map using only golems and undead Knights and footmen. To start with; you get near 100 units in a day and a half. Impossible unless the mod allows you to buy units and it will cost a fortune. These units only cost you honor. Fallen may be bad but they upgrade quickly and are on par with every other recruit. trash.

Footmen are the cost of militia- but beat all factions because of the chance to spawn with mail (30+ armor head, feet, chest). Proper testing is hard though because of the very random gear they get. One with a tabard and a club is not worth much but one with lucky gear will make a good wall; which is the footman's only function. They all get shields and they are free. Used with golems they make the melee dream team. Slam you and vassal's parties full of these and send them into the meat grinder.

Knights are monsters. Top tier mounts, armor, weapons. They have magic throwing so they can one-shot basically anything which I don't believe any other heavy cavalry can do that. Not much to say, don't waste them in sieges because sometimes they spawn with throwing and lance. And they are free.

I could go into more in-depth with a strategy guide of sorts but the grimoire is over-powered. I freaking love it, but it is broken. The units themselves perform fine in the field or in sieges.

The undead are indeed a bit of a mixed bag. Honestly necromancy should have a bit of a balance, though I think the spell list is the most needed for this.

It would be nice to see something like this. Note that the summons give no upgraded soldiers.
Level 1 - Summon Skeletons 1 - 5-10 Skeletons
Level 2 - Summon Undead 1 - 5-10 Fallen
Level 3 - Summon Skeletal Horse - Slightly faster, but lightly armored.
Level 4 - Summon Skeletons 2 - 10-20 Skeletons
Level 5 - Summon Undead 2 - 10-20 Fallen
Level 6 - Summon Skeleton 3 - 20-30 Skeletons
Level 7 - Summon Undead 3 - 20-30 Fallen
Level 8 - Summon Skeletal Warhorse - Slow moving, but armored horse
Level 9 - Summon Undead 4 - 30-40 Fallen
Level 10 - Summon Undead Champion - Summons 5 Deathknights - maybe requiring something like a reagent found at the Necro tower.

Second would be a troop tree for the undead, both have their use and benefits. All should be no upkeep/near 0 upkeep and cap skeletons and fallen at 30. The cost is just suggested, not built for balance, but since they are 100% KIA when downed, its reasonable that it might be cheaper.

Skeletons are your basic ranged and anti-cavalry. Cheap and mobile, but are brittle and weak.
Skeleton - T0 - Unarmored and unarmed.
Skeleton Warrior - T1(20D) - Padded armor and spears. Light Militia
Skeleton Archer - T2(40D) - Padded armor and shortbows. Basic Archer
Skeleton Soldier - T2(40D) - Leather armor and more spears. Light Infantry
Skeleton Longbowman - T3(80D) - Leather armor and Longbows. Marksman of necromancy
Skeleton Infantry - T3(80D) - Chainmail and spears, slowest of the "fast". Medium Infantry

Undead are the body and wall of an army. Sacrificing mobility and range for durability and strength.
Undead - T0 - Unarmored, unarmed.
Undead Footman - T1(20D) - Leather armor sword and board. Light Infantry
Undead Horseman - T2(80D) - Skeletal Horse, Leather/chain, lance, shield, sword. Light Cavalry
Undead Soldier - T2(50D) - Chainmail, 1h and shield. Medium Infantry
Undead Knight - T3(160D) - Skeletal Warhorse, Chain/Light Plate, lance, shield, sword. Heavy Cavalry.
Undead Infantry - T3(90) - Plate, shield and 1h weapon. Heavy infantry.

Deathknights are the elite of necromancy. A major investment, but apocalyptic on the battlefield.
Deathknight - T0 - Heavy Armor, Heavy Warhorse, Sword, Shield. Good all round knight
Deathknight Captain - T7(240-1200) - Just your normal level 60 Super Knight. Top line necromancy unit.
