Problem when placing both portals

Whenever both portals are active (this happens even when using Aperture's Portal Emitters), my game goes into a glitchy "thirdperson" state where my camera is still where it should be in it's firstperson state, but my playermodel is visible and occasionally clips through it. Is there anything that causes this?
