Thank you for the hard work on the mods. Stuff like this adds a lot of depth to the game, where caravaning in particular is kind of bare in vanilla.

I went kind of out there with some of these in terms of how difficult they would be to do, but please consider the following:

Friendly Caravan Trapped by Man-Eating Animals
A Caravan spawns inside of a bunch of hasty barricades and temporary shelters, with multiple packs of man-eating animals surrounding them.
The longer you take to get to them, the more wounded and dead there will be on the part of the defenders, with less loot in general.
Bonus points of plugin with rim of madness horrors mod to have the caravan beset by horrors.

Mad Scientist
Plugin with the Genetic Rim mod, a mad scientist has high tech goodies but is defended by his loyal horde of nightmare creatures, bonus points if plugged in with the bioreactor mod to have that base powered with tanks of captured humans and various animals.

Immortal Defenders
Essentially a bigger ancient danger, a large base of cyropods defended by mechanoids and maybe turrets. Bonus points for plugin with android tiers to add higher tiered robot defenders.

Abandoned Museum
A bunch of raiders have set up in a huge art museum, you can swipe the art for yourself
Bonus points if some art is actually cursed and will cause negative events when they are disturbed.

Enemy Cult
Plugin with the rim of madness cults mod, your enemy is a well-established cult summoning the higher tier spells of their chosen god. As for a reason to go there, everything in their base is made of solid gold, jade, uranium or high tier modded materials.

Abandoned Spaceport
A base with a large amount of fuel and drop pods along with other advanced amenities. All you have to do is clear out the local hostile faction and you can just launch all the loot back home!

Terraformer Run Amok
A machine is buried in a base with some automated defenses and a bunch of dead raiders outside
The machine is making the local ambient temperature either lower or rise over time when a threat is detected.
A hot version will rise the temperature to +100C, and a cold version to -100C.
Bonus points if we can either minify it to take or build it on our own for our own base use, with it taking an extreme amount of power to use, as this would let us abuse farming outside.

Tournament
A challenge of skill, in unarmed melee combat, armed melee combat and gun duels.
No map is generated, the caravan dot sits on the spot over the course of a few days, with a new battle event every 6 hours or so.
In entering, a prompt to pick which caravaning pawn would show, allowing the choice of the preferred pawn. No choice is given to change pawns, they have to do the whole tournament.
After pawn selection, move to a screen of the pawns current condition and the opponents info (with maybe a popup menu of their stats), and a choice about proceeding or not.
There would be an entry from each faction on the map, with each fight simulating one bracket on a whole bracket chart. Each tier would have a pawn from that faction randomly rolled as in a raid, with the number of points assigned dependent on how big and how long the tournament will be.
Every win gets a price with a value based on the value stage of the tournament, with the last enemy generally given almost unfair buffs and an award of high value.
The tournament entering pawn can be wounded at any stage and the pauses between bouts give them a chance to be healed or take drugs.
A pawn can die in the matches, and their corpse will be in the caravans inventory, or the caravan be lost if they were the only member.

Table Time bomb
A base with no tables and a bunch of hostile pawns with moods pushing them to the extreme breaking point and are starving. Eating without table will set them off soon after entering the map, leading to a tantrum spiral that will destroy the base. You can choose to wait it out and enjoy the show to pick up the bits after, or try to put the tantrumers down before that point to keep the contents of the base intact.

a abandoned city filled with wildmen

how about a caravan event.

Your caravan has stumbled upon an ancient city, that could have been abandoned because of shortage of food, lots of treasure attracting lots of danger, or infestation, toxic fallout, or any other reason. You can enter and see what's inside, or turn back now and avoid any danger that may lurk inside the place.

There could be enemys wandering about, bugs, mechanoids, lot's of abandoned treasure and little to no food, spacers dropped from some ship, you could find dead bodies and bug blood/mechanoid coolant, it could be an ambush, or the city, and all of it's treasures, have been abandoned for no (apparent) reason.

when this happens it would be a pop-up like the refugee chased incident, containing two buttons and some text that would look like this;

Abandoned city found.

Your caravan stumbled upun an ancient city, now you have two choices. you can go in and see what it may hold, or go around the city and avoid any danger

Go around and avoid any danger.

Go in and see what's in there.

Caravan ambush: friendly faction tips you off about a caravan, belonging to hostile or neutral faction. They also tell you about a really good ambush spot. You have to get there before the caravan and wait for it to arrive to rob it.

Love the mod! I've been hoping for more events for a long time, so I greatly appreciate your efforts.

Inferno
Abandoned town (or enemy base/NPC town) has a very very large fire on the map. Save the city, loot it, or let it burn. Rewards for saving the NPC town. Temporary location.

Insect Superhive
An insect hive map location. At the center of the Insect Superhive map location is a "building" that is the queen insect. This building spawns standard hive buildings on the local map. The queen is usually in a cave system. The cave system having organic "rock" would be pretty awesome. This map location spawns Insect Hives and Roving Insects on the world map, and insect raids on the local map. Permanent location.

Insect Hive
A map location with a large hive of insects. Usually spawns in a cave system. Insect hives spawn insect raids on the colony, and roving insects on the world map. Permanent location

Roving Insects
A map location with a group of insects. Temporary location.

Abduction
A sudden message warns of a strange ship approaching your base. Any colonist not located under a roof is subject to a mini orbital beam strike. If the colonist is struck, they are abducted by an alien spaceship. The spaceship will land at a nearby temporary map location. Rescue the colonist! The spaceship might randomly beam abduction teams down to the surface if all colonists are hiding. Requires Androids or other alien mod.

Beast Slayer
A fearsome animal has been tormenting a nearby village. Eliminate the beast! The map location should have a den with lots of bones and corpses.

Drug Lab
A local NPC town has a drug problem. They want the colonists to destroy an enemy drug production facility. Eliminate all the crops, or even destroy the settlement. Or start your own drug operation!

Cannibal Tribe
A group of cannibals has captured some NPC's. Rescue the NPC's!

Graveyard
Large cluster of graves. Mausoleums with loot.

Sacked Hamlet
An entire hamlet has been sacked by slavers. The valuables and NPCs are gone, but a lone survivor remains. They will give location of slave work team.

Slave Work Team
All of the men from the hamlet are being forced into mining work. If freed, the men will give the location of a slave camp. Temporary location. If not rescued, the work team will move on and disappear forever!

Slave Camp
All of the women from the hamlet are being held in slavery. Temporary location. If not rescued, the slaves will eventually be sold off to the highest bidder.

Bunker
A fallout shelter carved into the mountainside. What treasures and traps could be inside?!

Lawmen on Patrol
Caravan encounter. One of you colonists in the caravan matches the description of a wanted criminal! Do you have enough social skill to convince them otherwise? Do you hand over the innocent colonist?

Treasure Map
A settlement on the world map has a treasure map with the location of a silver cache. Can it be trusted?! Is it a trap?!

Crow's Cage
A lone criminal dangles in a cage by the roadside. His name is Madmartigan. Do you free him or let him rot?! There is a chance Madmartigan joins, attacks, or flees.

Expedition
An allied settlement wants some reconnoissance/an expedition. If accepted, several map tiles become marked with a fog of war. Colonists must travel through these locations. After exploring the locations, there is a reward.

Escort Mission
Escort an NPC from one NPC city to another. During the journey, you will be ambushed multiple times.

Wedding
Local royalty want a high level negotiator to wed them! Lower skill might damage relations, while high skill could result in amazing rewards!

Medical Emergency
A rich local needs a doctor. Low level medical skill will result in the NPC's death, while high skill will save them. Specific body parts might be required for the surgery.

Blueprints
A local NPC town has learned the location of technology blueprints! Visit the location, defeat the enemies, and instantly claim the technology!

I like all these suggestions. Special shout out to bradr44 for some very interesting ones.
As I already stated I don't have much time so I can't promise to ever get to any of them unfortunately. I'll try my best though.

Let me know if I can help in any way & thaaaaank you!

Got a suggestion:
Crash Landing:
Essentially, the player finds a recent crash site of a ship. There's a few Ship Truss segments, maybe an engine or two, maybe even some caskets lying about. However, a day or so after the player arrives, other factions will arrive to salvage, so you have to get in and out of there fast.
Albion  [developer] 28 Jul, 2019 @ 12:37pm
@Jebcubed: you should check out my other mod Sparkling Worlds. It includes an event that is pretty exactly what you just described.
You can use the standalone Event Addon if you don't like the other content.
zomburger 28 Jul, 2019 @ 6:38pm
basically more events that would involve fighting alongside friendly npcs and ones that allow faction relation building, like in the more faction interactions mod but more fighting

Distress beacon:
A distress beacon has been activated somewhere near your position! It could be from a spacer who has crash landed and needs your help, or from a friendly tribe trapped by man hunting animals, or it could simply be a trap set up by raiders. (This would be a random event, but would have o have an npc who could set up a distress beacon)

Military Aid needed:
A friendly faction has asked for immediate help at one of their bases or outposts, the raiders are bombarding the base with nearby mortars! A group of warriors have assembled within the base and are waiting on your arrival to start the attack. (this would either take place are an allied faction base or a raider outpost near an allied base, upon arrival there will be a group of friendly warriors assembled near your group, who will begin the attack as soon as the raiders are attacked.)

Hey Albion, this isn't directly related to specific quests, but what do you think about the ability to get quests from NPC settlements with your caravan?

I asked Jecrell about extending the functionality of RimQuest for this, but never heard back. Since this is a quest mod, it would definitely incentivize exploring city to city.

Maybe have a bounty board at each NPC settlement?

I always thought it would be fun to skip having a colony, and just keep the entire colonist group in a permanent caravan, moving from encounter to encounter.

This would certainly be an interesting idea bradr44 but it would also require a decent amount of programming work.
To be perfectly honest I probably won't get around to it. Neither do I want to get your hopes up too much about additional events. Last Sunday I had some free time and I got an itch to create that treasure map suggestion of yours which turned into the intercepted message event. I only did this though because I knew I could create the event in less than 4 hours (it took about 3). Most of the other event ideas and the bounty board idea will require 10+ hours of work per feature.

I got a well paying job that requires a total of 3 hours commute per day. Because of this I have very little free time to spend with my wife or play video games. Squeezing in time to mod eats away at one or the other. Adding the birth of my first child in a few weeks will basically reduce the amount of time I can spend on modding to 0. I'm doing modding for free after all and all the donations I ever received in 2 years of modding add up to about 15$. Not exactly a living and an hourly wage that struggles to be more than a cent an hour.
Because of this I decided to consider Go Explore as feature complete. I will definitely continue to maintain it and fix bugs and stuff but I don't intend to add additional features except if I see a good event suggestions that I can finish up in less than 5 hours. There aren't many of those, though.

There is the possibility of doing commissions as kind of an additional motivation for me but I don't expect that there are too many people willing to pay for additional events or other features.

Anyway, long story short: continue to give suggestions, maybe it includes a winner that inspires me to hammer out another event. I won't promise anything though.

@Albion:
Jesus man you have negative time when that kid comes, don't worry about any of this. Especially mine as those are not exactly small programming tasks.

As to a bunch of totally unsolicited advice, the first 3-4 months with a kid is hell until they start sleeping at least 6 hours straight, then you can have what a resembles a normal sleep schedule.

If your commute is in safe mass transit or carpooling you should use the time you are idle on the ride to catch up on all the sleep you are going to miss.

If you drive the whole thing yourself, be careful to have enough sleep or sugar or caffeine in you so you don't nod off and wreck your car or worse. Everybody who tries to cheat that thinks they can do it until it happens to them.

I say this living in a major city with effectively no mass transit, a highway barony of a traffic authority, a large amount of drivers who learned to drive on different continents and get to see a wreck every other day on my 1-hour-each-way commute.

Ark Builder
An eccentric old man is convinced that this world is ending. He wants a breeding pair of as many animals as possible. He is willing to pay triple the market price on each type of animal but will only purchase a male/female pair, and will not purchase the same animals twice. He will give out map locations where the animals can be found. Beware, others might be after the same rare animals!
Albion  [developer] 5 Aug, 2019 @ 12:42pm
Thank you Howdy Pardner. I'm kind of aware that the kid will eat all of my time but I'm still hopefull that at least some will remain.
Don't be too concerned about me. I'm commuting by train especially because of the issue with having to be awake 100% of the time if going by car. This way at least I can take a nap but usually I just read a book or listen to podcasts.
Going by car would be somewhat faster but is also more expensive and brings the additional pain of having to hunt for parking space.

I also didn't want to dump all that stuff on you guys, just wanted to give some insight into the general background and why I don't develop as many additional events as I would actually like to create.
