The Laughing Sagari Trinket. Does it make Onslaught clearly worse than Pin Down? Or am I missing something?
Laughing Sagari - The trinket for the cataphract. I like the idea... unfortunately all it really does is, because of the -40% Damage to Melee skills, it makes Onslaught clearly worse than Pin Down in every area. Unless I'm missing something...

Laughing Sagari
On Onslaught Hit: Move Self: Back 3
-40% Damage Melee skills
+2 Speed if in Position 4

At L0
Onslaught with Laughing Sagari:
Melee Forward 3 ACC 95 Damage Mod -10% Crit Mod +5%
Pin Down
Ranged ACC 95 Damage Mod +10% Crit Mod +3% Debuff Target -6 Dodge(100% base) Buff Self +2 SPD

Granted this is at level 0. And you do get +2 Crit mod. But at -20% damage compared to Pin Down and without the buff and debuff it's just clearly worse. Sure it moves you back the 3 spaces, but Pin down does not move you in the first place, so moot point. The point of Onslaught is to give a higher damage skill that also messes you up by moving you to an inconvenient location. Laughing Sagari takes away the high damage and thus the point of the skill and the trinket. I don't think I'd ever use the skill with this trinket as Pin down is just better.

So good idea... but not balance correctly. To my mind it probably should be -40% RANGED damage, instead. This would make the skill better while nerfing quite a few of the classes other skills. It would make you rely on this skill and Thrust, should you get moved. Thus giving you a boost in that it makes Onslaught far more practical... but at a cost. If you get moved you pretty much have to rely on Thrust.

Just my two cents. Maybe I missed something. Love your work. I hope you will be able to keep at it. :)

I know it's a year and a half later, but the point is to pair it with Scorched Saddle, which if paired with Laughing Sagari brings Onslaught to equal base damage modifiers with Pin Down, and then Onslaught has a sweeeet 17% crit rate (12% over Pin Down which is not anything to sneeze at). The point is to spam Onslaught again and again and nuke backlines with massive and somewhat reliable crits that come out really fast.

Furthermore, the base +2 speed in position 4 with Sagari gives you a quicker turn than Pin Down, and Scorched Saddle gives you +2 speed on melee hit, which also stacks as a buff. This means that you will be faster than a Pin Down build which is buffing +3 every turn, by +1 for one turn, then equal, then Pin Down surpasses it by +1 for a total of +9, compared to Sagai/Saddle +8, for that turn and moving forward, assuming they both continue spamming the same move "in a vacuum."

All being said and done, Pin down starts off sliiightly slower, doesn't need two items to make it work, and you could just buff Pin Down with more trinkets to make it better for damage.

But who goes for that when you can have SPOOKY HORSEY STAB with CRITS for 33 DAMAGE every 5-6 attacks on average!!

tl:dr Pin Down is still better (ONLY because of the potential for it to be paired with other trinkets), you're not wrong, but not by as much and not for the reason one would think just looking at Sagari by itself.
