Rotating billboards

Tutorial
Hello there! If you're seeing this it means you want to know how to add your custom images to this billboard addon:

Required Programs:

- VTFEdit [nemesis.thewavelength.net]
(Making our .png / .jpeg into a .vtf )

-Any Art Program (Gimp, Photoshop..., I use Krita)
(Properly creating our image)

Making the add:

-It is required that you use an image size of 1024x512 or 2048x1024.

-Alternatively you could use 3072x2048 or 4096x3072 but performance would degrade.

Using VTFEdit:

- A very good guide for creating .vtf's that I used.

Attention!

NOTE: If you're making a plain and simple world texture you won't need to change any of these. If you're making a texture with fine gradient detail however, you'll need to choose a non-lossy compression mode.

NOTE: Textures that will appear in the 3D world should have mipmaps. To conserve memory, textures that will only be used in a 2D interface should not.

-You should include mipmaps (used for LOD: Level of detail)

Almost done:

-Now that you have followed the instructions in the guide, take your ad1.vtf / ad2.vtf / ad3.vtf and put it in props_ads.

-Now you're done. I hope you enjoy this addon. :)

Edit: You should use Easy Animation Tool to animate the billboard, if it wasn't already somewhat obvious (The model itself is animated.)

To use the animation, press C then right click on the model, then click on Make Animatable , then press Q and bottom right click on Easy Animation Tool under the Robotboy655 Category. Right click on the model and then while pressing Q again, click on Rotating (That is the animation) and you're done.

How do I make the ad4+ ones show up better? I put them on the exact same file as the first three and put them as VMT, so idk what I'm doing wrong

More specifically, some random-ass texture pops up instead of the VMTs I wanted

Hey, haven't checked in on this guide in a while. You should decompile the model and port it into blender. Check the QC for skin groups and also check the model itself in blender. Or alternatively, use vtfedit, it'll tell you what materials the models look for.

Yeah? -- As long as it outputs a valid file (tga, png, jpeg, et cetera).
