Hello fellas,
This is the first time I ever write to you directly, and I wanted to do this because Wu has reached a milestone and an evolutionary changing point. Before talking about what will happen in the future, I’d first like to share with you the history of Wu a little bit.
You may have noticed that I used the pronoun “I” instead of “we”because Wu started very small. At the beginning, there were really only two people in our so-called team, me and Mr.Six, my old high school friend who is in charge of all the texts and historical references. The first version of Wu, version 1.0.0, had only less than 10 portraits and very little contents. I honestly started Wu just because I felt like modifying the game and learning how the mod tools work were interesting. I did not expect to do this for this long and even the title “kingdaissance” is the result of a casual (and failed) attempt to coin two words together. However, as time goes by and as more and more talented people join our team, this mod somehow becomes larger and larger and also my “baby project” that I can be proud of, and that is why I’m incredibly happy that we have finished the second round (remaking all of the factions in the first round) and are moving onto the next stage.
Version 4.3.0 marks the end of the second round, and version 4.4.0 symbolizes the beginning of a new era: the era when ART will be the main focus. From this point on, more and more original arts will be introduced to Wu and we will also be renovating pictures of unique weapons, items, even ability icons, as well as making the models look as close to the art as possible. Hopefully we will reach a point where the modded game feels just as natural as the vanilla game and give players a sense of “delicacy” rather than “roughness”. This is the reason some of the “good-looking” portraits are being swapped out: artstyle and resolution is our main concern with portraits and I hope you could understand that.
We will further customize each character, especially the ones with original artwork: their titles will have bonuses that are more unique and a better representation of their historical influences and their ability trees will not only have the three unique battle abilities but also other customized nodes as well. We’ll also start giving love to some of the smaller factions such as Liu Yu, Gongsun Du, etc. and give at least the faction leaders some unique features. Therefore, further updates will not be in the “one faction per update” form like we did before, but we will be updating whatever we believe needs updating.
That’s basically about it. I’d like to thank all of our language translators and people who voluntarily make add-ons for Wu. Thank you all for supporting Wu. We’ve come a long way and it wouldn’t have been possible without all the support. If you’d like us to be on a discord channel or pateron you could leave a comment. My biggest concern with these is that I don’t know if I will have the time and energy to maintain the presence on social media (since Chinese players and players from other countries do not share these platforms), but do let us know what you think.
