A feature suggestion and a permission request:
I decided to create a discussion thread for this as to avoid a long buried comment and I've got multiple topics.

1. Feature Suggestion: The ability to launch drop pods from ships to map tiles without landing.

Say for instance you have a few world quests or tasks you want to accomplish on the world map and you've got a later-game ship. You could load that ship with everything you'd need and then launch a few pods of gear/people down to the world quest and then move to the next one and repeat.

With this framework, ships could be even more differentiated as some could be better for combat purposes as bombers and the like, while others could be better for transport to haul people/gear around and drop them where needed.

Just a random thought based on some circumstances I encountered.

2. Permission Request: I would like to request permission from the SRTS developers to release a simple XML add-on mod I've created/been using personally.

The mod introduces a new trader that sells the SRTS ships and then patches all the ships to have a custom market value. At present, that market value is 2x the market value of the resources used to build it, thus making it a trade off. You can acquire ships without the research, construction skill, or resources to build them; but at a higher cost of silver than doing it yourself.

Those values are simple to change. I have a simple spreadsheet[docs.google.com] for calculating costs. If I knew how to dynamically do it, I'd include mod settings that allow you to set your own multiplication factor.

I'd likely cut out the ability to buy the Genesis and leave that one still 100% builder only since it is a special class.

First suggestion is something I already intend to do. Also, you don't need permission to release add-on mods. It's actually encouraged, so feel free!

Hey, I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna step on anyone's toes or anything. I released the mod here, provided credits and linked it to SRTSE as a dependency.

i do have a request its for bombing runs to work from the world map, its tedium to constantly reload the ship and maneuver it out of the way. maybe like a staging area even.
