Balance Thoughts and Bugs
So I reeeeeaaaallllly like this character and I hope it becomes real (also where is that stage in the trailer i want to try it), but he does need a bit of balancing. Not a ton, mind you, but some. His up air 1 hit lag is a little excessive, as it combos waaay to easily and generously. May want to consider making up air work more like slower ranno to prevent the janky di mixup where up air 1 kills at 50. F smash needs a slight tipper nerf but is overall fine. Up tilt is just way to fast, you know its too fast when you have to time it to make sure you dont knock your opponent to high out of it. Forward air needs an overall knockback nerf (mainly the janky forward hitbox, its fine if the spike kills early but the forward hit shouldnt kill at 60 on somewhat bad di). Bamboo healing should be slightly lowered to 7 rather than 10. I don't neccesarily think so, but a friend thinks air acceleration is whack and a little too fast. That is my main starting changes to not underpower the character but see what happens, now for the bugs. D tilt stores wavedash momentum, so if i wavedash forward I go like twice the distance and if i wavedash backwards i dont go anywhere (this is actually kinda neat and allows guadua to set up into any tilt with the forward version so idk if that should be addressed or left as a feature). Side b has just recently decided not to work on Maple i guess? Just today the move started going through her, doing nothing. Maybe its something with the seed, but I didnt have the seed on me. Love this character and wanted to get my thoughts out, up b bamboo combos are sick so please dont touch that, as these other nerfs should compensate for some early confirms (that can be avoided). Oh also, what changed for the v 1.0 patch? I can never find the patch notes anywhere for these things.

I found the patch. That was a diabolical nerf not a glitch that side b doesnt hit opponents unless they are caught when bamboo is hit. I guess I can understand it, but I just hate that I am missing a tech chase option now. (he still has a lot though so guess i cant complain).

Side B is literally broken. it just goes right through people. Is this intended or a bug?

I think it was a balance patch, it happened right after the v1.0 patch. Guadua has a lot of options already, and he could confirm into a kill with this one so its not totally unreasonable to remove it. I think it wouldnt make sense for a bug like this to just happen and be very universal, it was a tactical nerf to bring him down a lot without removing his other cool options. Cant just spam it anymore.

Plus, it still works when you hit the bamboo so set ups are more important.

Well that's annoying... I hope they try to balance it a bit more at least, maybe even go back on it. The bamboo set up is stupidly hard to hit, especially on the air since the bamboos disappear if they touch a platform, and it happens very often.

I liked that the cure on his bite happens on enemies as well instead of just on his bamboos. I always forget to use it, now I'll probably remember more easily.

make her idle and crouch hurtbox fit her sprite better, side b just doesnt hit people for some reason but it can hit bamboo? and thats all thank you :)

Up tilt is way too fast at frame 5, this needs to be slowed down
Her air speed, air acceleration, and run speed is way too fast for a “slow” character
I agree with side b only having a hit box when hitting bamboo and should be added back
Down b needs healing removed, it allows people to camp and heal, maybe reduce the end lag so you can erase the cooldown
Up smash needs it’s end lag increased, its way too spammable
Forward tilt and jab are way to fast at frame 5, needs to be slowed down, and more end lag on forward tilt
Up b’s grapple speed needs to be reduced, at this point it’s impossible to edge guard
Dash attack needs to have its slide reduced, she just zips across the stage
These are just the changes that I can name off the top of my head
