Garry's Mod

[Campaign] Half-Life²: Cosmonaut
Lenghty review
Gameplay wise I can't say anything negative about this, puzzles were usually pretty easy when I actually used my brain, there were obvious indicators for where I was supposed to go and some neat easter eggs. I really didn't expect the hunter jumpscare in the asylum, mostly because I've never seen people put hunters into gmod campaign maps before. I also really liked the beginning part where the metrocops arrest you or something, there was no lazy cut to you inside a cell or anything. I also had a chuckle over the amount of troops that suddenly left the base as I got onto the beach. I also liked how every level had a unique theme/enviroment. Overall this is a very solid campaign.
But I'm sorry, the story just doesn't make sense. Mission control gets raided by metrocops with stunsticks or something while sending a message to you? The protagonist for some reason goes straight for the next rocket he sees to get back into space for whatever reason. And don't get me started on how this just doesn't fit into the HL timeline anywhere. So appearently the portal storms and 7 hour war (both of wich would probably be visible from space to some extend) are just not noticed by both the protagonist and mission control as they just don't tell him what's going on on earth. It's implied that this Campaign takes place either directly after the combine invasion or around HL2, both of wich wouldn't make sense. In the case of the early occopation era it would mean that the combine immediately figured out how to modify humans and turn them into Soldiers, now this mod did come out before HL:A wich showed that there were earlier versions of the transhuman programm before the soldiers we see in HL2 so I'm not really mad about that. But it is shown that the combine metropolice force and occopation have already been fully established with everyone wearing uniforms and everything looking like it was abandoned for a long time. The hl2 era doesn't make sense because mission control and the protagonist both don't seem to know that earth is being governed by aliens as if they didn't atleast try to communicate with the outside world (for 20 years mind you) at all, not to mention that supplies wich are necessary to keep the base and protagonists space station running wouldn't have come in (for 20 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years) since there was no goverment to send these supplies. The people on the space station you get to would have all been dead by the time you contact them since again, they wouldn't get any supplies from whatever now nonexistent country owned the station. In short, all of the character dialogue indicates that the alien invasion happened just now (and that most people straight up didn't notice it) yet everything else indicates that this takes place around HL2, 20 years after the invasion and establishment of combine rule.
