A superior Austrian vacation. 4/5 stars.

Vienna Calling 2 is a sequel that fixes almost all of my problems with the original. It generally looks great, the level design is creative, horde events are unique, and the architecture feels like it's actually in Austria this time around. This mod has fancy government palaces, helicopter rides, cutscenes, and even a zoo with real (dead) animals in it. L4D2 survivors make cameo appearances, too!

This mod is one of the longest I've ever played, with 6 huge chapters that took me over 2 hours to finish. The quality was usually so high that I didn't mind the length, but I have my gripes.

Finding the path forward can be harder than it needs to be. Aesthetic polish is generally inconsistent, and I particularly hate that the rain never makes any noise. The campaign is tough, especially during the gauntlet finale — but it felt outright unfair when my bots started teleporting out of bounds.

Overall, there's room for improvement, but I still had a good time.
