The new mod you work on: mail overhaul
Remember our conversations about mail?
I suggested to implement a similar method like in the old "post mod by noun" with post office buildings (no access road snippets, just lanes, so easy placeable inside a town) and road side placeable mailboxes as small truck stations similar to https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2178685125
I'm still not sure if the exact same functionality is good or if it needs a different approach (it was a Tpf1 mod).

Perhaps three or even four (!) different types of mail are needed, in comparision to the two MAIL and UNSORTED_MAIL.
The households and offices produce / the people throw in NEW_MAIL (or what ever it could be named) into the mailboxes (truck stations) from where it is sent to the post office buildings, they convert it into UNSORTED_MAIL.
The postal sorting center converts that into MAIL.
The MAIL is delivered to the post office buildings, they convert this into DELIVERY_MAIL (or what ever).
And that one finally is sent to the households or the offices.
So post offices do two different conversion jobs.

Hello GordonDry, that is a very interesting proposal. I will see what I can do.

I just see that the postal offices need at least a small "parking lot" for trucks to pass through.
I suggest a small footprint with narrow oneway roads to enter and exit.

I've played the entire weekend with the concept of the Post Office. The challenge is to have two (2) rules active: the conversion of NEW_MAIL into UNSORTED_MAIL, and the second conversion of SORTED_MAIL into DELIVERY_MAIL.

I did not manage to do it with a single building: not an industrial plant, nor a town building. Then I created road cargo station modules, where I made one module building for the shipping services, and another for the delivery services. Module buildings can be placed on cargo station as platforms do.

Unfortunately, even with 2 separate buildings on one cargo station, only one rule is active. A cargo station works as a unit, no matter how many modules one places on it. So that tentative failed also. All comes down to my lack of skills with the programming language and the knowledge how to do things with scripting in TpF2.

So, for the moment I do not have a working post office.... I'm sorry.

You could ask in a forum post on transportfever.net - I have not that much of programming skills as well :/
