Making fauna even more realistic
I've made this topic to discuss any animals-related suggestions that can make fauna even more realistic.

Since the game takes place in 10,000BC, according to Wikipedia, it seems that the following animals were either extinct or very few of them remain (depending also on map/geography):

Extinct species:
elasmotherium: "extincted by 26000BC"
cave_hyena: "completely disappearing from Western Europe between 14-11,000 years ago, and earlier in some areas";
cave_lion: "became extinct about 13,000 years ago";

Endangered species:
ancient_bison: "lived in Late Pleistocene North America until around 10,000 years ago";
megaloceros: "from the early Pleistocene to the beginning of the Holocene"(which "began approximately 11,650 cal years BP" = 9,700BC);
woolly_rhinoceros: "survived as recently as 8,000 BC in western Siberia";
mammoth: "vanished from Europe and southern Siberia about 12,000 BC, [..] some were still present there about 10,000 years ago. Slightly later, the woolly mammoths also disappeared from continental northern Siberia";

So I've removed extinct species from all maps and greatly reduced (or even removed on some maps) endangered ones.

Note that on Savanna map, since the game does not support that fauna, I've used:
donkeys/horses as zebras,
ancient_bison/bison as wildebeest,
ibex as thomson gazelles/elands,
mouflon as Topi,
aurochs as buffalos,
boar as warthogs,
cave_hyena(/wolves) as hyenas,
cave_lion as lions/leopards,
mammoth as elephants,
woolly_rhinoceros as black rhinos.

Let me know your opinions :)

Well one way to have all megafauna is to make a map scenario that takes place before 26000BC, but will mostly have about the same animals as the Savanna map. If I would change the period, I would rather make it after 1200BC, when the iron age began in Ancient Near East, but the player village was still isolated with paleolithic era, so that it would be more realistic that traders bring tech already discovered elsewhere and spread, reaching their village.
I am playing on the aslpine meadow map and it says that boars dont exist. From what I know boars did already exist in 10000 BC and then they would definitively live in an alpine environment. But maybe I am misremembering something, so I would like to know if boars are supposed to exist on the map or if they did not actually exist in that timeperiode

I would love to play a map that has all animals available! Helps greatly with knowledge building as well, since this mod places such a premium of knowledge.

I was playing with this mod in the map called Nilo Delta, amazing map, but when i was looking for some food there are just a few kind of animal, most part of my time hunting only those rhinos,ok very realistic but after some time it get borred to hunt just a few part of all possibilities of the fauna from the base game, any way i realy like this mod, the best so far, give some atentions also for those sticks and other resources, my personal opinion is that in late game we can't get enough of each one.

@BIO Thanks for your feedback. Regarding rhinos, they are a replacement for hippopotamus, as
according to Wikipedia[en.wikipedia.org]: "animals found in the delta include frogs, turtles, tortoises, mongooses, and the Nile monitor. Nile crocodiles and hippopotamus, two animals which were widespread in the delta during antiquity[..]". For the other animals enumerated I do not have similar replacements, so were replaced by (a minimum of) the animals needed for domestication.

One thing to note:
carnivores are way to aggressive. they wouldn't come close to groups of humans and especially not attack them. single humans would be attacked, but rather far off of groupings.
