according to Wikipedia[en.wikipedia.org]: "animals found in the delta include frogs, turtles, tortoises, mongooses, and the Nile monitor. Nile crocodiles and hippopotamus, two animals which were widespread in the delta during antiquity[..]". For the other animals enumerated I do not have similar replacements, so were replaced by (a minimum of) the animals needed for domestication.
carnivores are way to aggressive. they wouldn't come close to groups of humans and especially not attack them. single humans would be attacked, but rather far off of groupings.
