Ive played this character a fair bit and have a few minor balance critiques that you may look into if you wish.

Note: All critiques are based on level 2 with rank 3 skills and gear.

1) Given this character's skills split in such a way as all healing are back 2 and all damage are front 2 (because pistol is more or less useless in back 2) it feels weird to not have any kind of movement skill. Perhaps you could alter his self buff to move him forward, as to allow more variety to ways to play him, because as it stands im kind of stuck just using sheildbreaker with him 100% of the time if I wish to use any of his damage moves.

2) His team heal does almost as much as his single heal, which, with its buff especially, feels a bit lopsided. Perhaps either nerf the group heal or buff the single as to justify its usage.

3) As far as I can tell there isnt a quirk related to his stress heals like how there is for jester. Its not a big deal, but adding both a pos and neg quirk of a similar nature would be cool.

Over all, I love this mod, and I think you went above and beyond in its creation, and while there are minor elements for improvement, I will say that Im honestly shocked at how well youve balanced him on (what I assume to be) your first try. Most mods I find are either woefully under powered or far and beyond overpowered so Its nice to find one so near the middle ground without having many patches involved. Thanks for all your hard work and please keep it up.

Thank you for the feedback, Niki! And I appreciate the kind words. Drunken Shanty is not meant to heal as much as his targeted heal. So, if it is then I might have introduced a mistake in my last balancing. Ill go back through the files and double check, and if that is the case, it will have its healing amount nerf'd .

As for adding movement to "Bottle of Rum" , I would rather stay away from that as I find shuffle abilities can be disruptive overall to many party comps. While Black Powder Pistol does significantly less damage in the back two ranks, I still believe it has its uses sniping stress casters and utilizing its knockback effect for strategic purposes, so for now I will leave it alone. I have been considering making "Dissonant Chord" usable in rank 1 to help fill out his potential as a damage dealer, but haven't yet made a decision in it.

Further balance passes will continue to happen as I get more feedback, so thank you for helping me make the Privateer the best class it can be. Cheers!

Hey man, loving your mod so far!

The class is well balanced I think and having one more healer to add to the roster (beside the standard ones) is pretty nice. Also, the fact he can hit every rank from every rank makes him is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flexible xD.

That being said, I think the aoe stress heal/heal could use a nerf. It can almost outheal the cleric's party heal while also reducing your party's stress while adding a buff on top of that. ( I think lowering the chance of de-stressing your party could be a fair nerf, or maybe removing the buff it provide).

There is also a bug i would like to report. His lvl 2 weapon upgrade lowers his speed to zero.

Thank you very much for making this class!

@DapperJack Notice that the Black Powder Pistol doesn't knockback. It should knockback the Privateer or the enemy? Both of them aren't.

@michelis The stress heal on drunken shanty was recently nerf'd. You think the numbers should be tweaked a little further? I will look into the speed bug on level 2 weapon

@szaman, this is the first bug report i have recieved regarding the knockback. It has been functioning as expected for me. Ill look into it.

I feel like "Drunken Shanty" is too efficient compared to the rest of his kit . Maybe you could move part of this power to one of his other skills.
An idea could be to remove the party buff from "Drunken Shanty" and add it to "Black Powder Pistol" but only if used in position 3 and 4.This way you will still be a healer/supporter if played in the last 2 spot of your party but you will have more option to play the class.
I've been using this class for the past week alongside a bunch of other modded classes to compare the power of the modded classes to the base ones, and get an overall picture of how the modded classes can fit into the game, and which ones are balanced or unbalanced.

Privateer is an exceedingly powerful support class, perhaps TOO powerful even. Mainly because Drunken Shanty is so absolutely overloaded as a skill. It AoE heals, it AoE Stress heals, it buffs, it does everything you want in a support skill, in a single button, than you can push forever. While I really enjoyed using the Privateer it was clear that the most useful thing for him to do in every turn was to just spam more Drunken Shanty.

There are a few reasons for this, starting with the fact that, as mentioned, Drunken Shanty does EVERYTHING AT ONCE. Which is just insane action economy. You're essentially using Divine Comfort, Cry Havoc, AND Battle Ballad, in a single turn. With a single character. While I love that, and it's absurdly fun, it's balance is certainly questionable. It would likely be best to try and separate these skills out somewhat, at least a little.

Secondly there's very little reason it feels like to make use of his other skills. Ration of Grog feels too weak as a single target heal, only getting maybe 2-4 points higher than Shanty in general which usually isn't worth giving up the buffs Shanty provides. The stress heal has the same problem, AND Ration of Grog actually DEBUFFS your speed on that character! Meaning this single target heal/stress heal not only is barely better than Shanty, and doesn't come along with the buffs of Shanty it ALSO has a downside.

Dissonant Chord is a great debuff, but it basically feels like a different form of Shanty buffs, but with a failure chance thanks to enemy Debuff Resist and Miss/Dodge chances from the enemies. The damage is so minor as to not be worth considering past Apprentice too, so it just feels like it's not worth using COMPARED to Shanty.

I'd say that the best way to try and balance Drunken Shanty would be to both make it slightly less overbearing, and make his other support options a bit better. Lowering the stress heal chance of Shanty, cutting down on some of its buffs, or even adding a Debuff to it in order to keep people from absolutely spamming it every round (Perhaps a -Dodge debuff since people are distracted by the loud drunken music and don't hear the enemies swinging at them as easily.)

Next I'd say buffing his other abilities would be nice, making Ration of Grog a bit of a stronger single target heal would be nice, as well as maybe a secondary effect (Perhaps curing Bleed/Blight, alcohol is a disinfectant after all, and there's not many classes who do that so having another option to deal with Statuses would be nice) and possibly removing the Speed debuff, depending on what number tweaks yo do to its healing. Dissonant Chord could probably used some increased accuracy or debuff chance to make it a bit more reliable, it's a solid ability just feels overshadowed by Drunken Shanty.

I don't have any real complaints about his offensive abilities. The Pistol is useful in back for low health sniping, useful in front for damage and knockback, belay is a solid stun and speed debuff, and Avast gives a nice bleed to deal with high-prot enemies, then A Bottle of Rum is a powerful self-buff that helps him become a more powerful damage dealer, though I will agree that the ability to move forward in the team to make use of both his offensive and support abilities would be nice, but it's certainly difficult to find a good place to put that in without causing troubles. I'd say A Bottle of Rum would likely be the best candidate to push him forward as was mentioned by @NikiGotUrSpine would work. The Self-Buff is definitely not something you're likely to use in the back rows unless you intend to start moving forward to deal damage. it would add a bit of versatility to the class without interrupting his kit too much I feel, but this one is more of a minor thing and not going with that is understandable. It would be better in some comps and worse in others certainly.

Overall I really like the theme of the class and enjoy the way it plays, I just would like to see its other abilities get some use so it doesn't get relegated to being a Shanty-Bot on the team basically. Great work so far and I really look forward to your continued work with this class!
