Immortals

Hilarious Immortal-Scaria interaction.
I just had a hilarious situation. So, a few days ago someone had been chased by a maddened Devil Sheep Ram because it had Scaria and I decided to accept them into my colony. It was only one ram, so he was easy to deal with, but thankfully he didn't rot. I then placed him in my freezer. A little time later he actually revived! Turns out he is immortal and that was why he didn't rot. I then thought "Oh, cool! I might be able to tame him and have a free, immortal Devil Sheep Ram!" I then tamed him first try, and brought him to my animal pen. Well, here's the kicker. He still had Scaria so he ended up going mad after a few hours and I was forced to put him down. Now, since he was immortal I knew he would come back eventually, and I didn't have any medicine nor the skill to cure him of Scaria. I then decided to place him in a random crevice in my mountain base, built a door in the path, and abandoned the dead ram in it.

I didn't know what was going to happen anymore. The ram is immortal so he would keep reviving, but he still had 5 days worth of Scaria and kept going mad a couple hours after reviving before dying of starvation. He was also still considered my animal so I would get a notification whenever he died. This repeated for quite a while, the ram reviving every so often before dying soon after. My hope was that eventually the ram would go through his Scaria and he would heal after a final death, or he would just stay dead when the timer went down till I could find some way to revive him later and cure him of his Scaria. Or just butcher him later.

Eventually, the ram fully succumbed to Scaria... and then something bizarre happened. After the timer was done and the ram died from Scaria instead of starvation he remained dead in the room for some time. The Scaria hediff was still on his corpse and the timer was completely gone. Thinking that he was dead permanently I switched focus to something else and planned on eventually coming back to butcher him later... Until I jumped at the sound of the lightning strike of him reviving again, followed by another notification. I thought "OH! Maybe he has fully revived with no Scaria!" and paused my game to take a look, but to my surprise I found him dead before I got to him. I then read the notification properly (I had only glanced at it) and realized it was for his death. I thought it odd, but ignored it and unpaused my game to continue whatever I was doing, until seconds later I am assaulted with another lightning strike and another notification of his death. This continued over. And Over. And Over again.

It turns out that the immortality and the Scaria both remained in full force. Because the Scaria was the cause of it's death, and because he had no other wound except for a shattered hoof, he kept reviving due to the immortality but then immediately dying due to his Scaria. It would have been quite comical, if it wasn't a bit annoying. The crevice I turned into his tomb was in the middle of my base, so seeing a lightning strike and hear the notification in rapid succession was a bit annoying, and I was trying to consider my options. My solution? Nothing! Eventually, after a few in game hours as well as several revives and notifications, the Scaria ran it's course and the ram revived with no Scaria! He was completely healed and I could return him to the pen where he could be fed and comfortable. No more starvation, no more madness. Only plenty of food, the comfort of his pen-mates, and the loving care of my colonists.

Ultimately, the experience was bizarre, briefly a bit annoying, and quite funny! In honor of the ram's ability to revive and heal no matter what hardships he faces I've decided to rename him to The Doctor! He's a hardy ram that I hope remains a loving member of my colony for a very long time. :D

Had the same thing happen lol. Or similar, might have been a mod but I had lighting striking down 20times a second in rapid succession in a endless loop with it dieing and rezing over and over. I had reload then dev mode despawn them to fix it.
