Is there an easy way to make new weapon mods?

Same as the title, curious how hard it would be to make new weapons? or is there only the option of modding existing ones?

It's possible to port your own models into the game, but I have not the slightest clue on how that's done. I only know how to make some scripts, and reskin things, and it's very easy when you get the hang of it.
