Become a Bard

Suggestions
I have two things to suggest.

1st: WAY too many of the songs with multiple parts default to two lutes. Malukah 5 and Elsweyr 2 and 6 should have the follower on a drum, for example. If you don't have time to go through and re-listen to every song, I'd be willing to take on the job and give you a list of which instruments each track should have.

2nd: This one would be a bit more coding intensive (I think), but it would be cool if it could remove the "have a lute" requirement for songs with vocal parts IF you have a bard follower. Like, they'll play the lute while your character sings. I suggest this because I like the idea of a pure-singer character, but right now the only option for that (that I've found) is Dragonborn Comes.

Sorry if that came off as harsh, I didn't mean it to. I love this mod, it's one of my favorites, and you've done an awesome job on it! I just had these couple tweaks I felt would make this awesome thing even MORE awesome! :D

I make sure that I keep each instrument in my followers inventory when I am on Bard quests. It would be great to be able to know ahead of time the instruments required for myself & follower.
This is one of my favorite mods, a real break from the usual hack & slash. lol :)

Actually, instruments spawn for your followers even if they don't have any in their inventory. It only checks to make sure you have the primary instrument available, and then if you have a follower it has them do the animation for the secondary instrument, if there is one. I've had Lydia accompany me on a lute when she had no instruments in her inventory at all.

Anothr thing that would be cool (if it isn't this way already) is for the amount your Speech skill progresses to be proportional to the length of the song you play. That way you can't power game by playing Lute 4 over and over and over again, and you don't take a skill hit for playing longer songs.
